Let me just say if you love Conquer Online you'll make every single decision including but not limited to paying your own server and dev from an obscured account to keep it running and keep the team happy. (at least that is what I had done on some projects until I and the community ran out of money)
No project can escape the mental and emotional duress of the work itself and it absolutely takes a team.
It's 2022 boys and girls - I still have folks hitting me up on various channels asking for access to sources and junk wanting to revive CO - give it up if you are lone developer who is relying on the community for funding. If you want to one day launch a server and have the respect of the community stop trying to play the community. This community dies a little bit more and more every time a 'dev' like this and a thread like this happens. This is fuckin' repeating the same cycle over and over and over.
Shit you not - when I started with TQ I was 14 years old - 20 years ago guys. Quit this shit. There are reputable developers in this space and some that just simply said screw this shit (namely my favorite boy Ulti - and he is most of the reason I am not here either - he's the only one I could come to trust after what went down with me and Pro4Never).
I'm sure many of you are unaware but the original devs of CO that I worked with are now general manager of a 3.3billion dollar dev house (won't name it due to crawlers leading a china company here to our threads) - are we REALLY stuck in 2014? Fk off?
No matter who you ask - they can hate me or love me; I have always advocated for elevating developers from this scene into positions so that CO could become a labor of love that actually gives back to the community rather than takes. Sure - every single server I was a part of had options to pay for power - it's nature of the beast; however if your hosting costs rely on the community - I'm laughing at how naive you must be.

Just fyi I rage deleted discord over the stink of the community and folks (past devs I've worked with but certainly not Ultimation) attempting to steal my identity and funds from culling their DB and using my bank info. I have a new one if you wanna get up just DM me. This same person attacked Ryee my close friend and original TQ mod as well - I'm sure you're aware I don't take kindly to folks messing with her as shes on disability and if we come into your project as OG TQ elites - don't do this shit to the community man wtf?!
Outside of this rant - I want to say there is a place in my heart for this community but things like this thread - and like the dirty mess 'devs' try to do to the player base and individuals just - you can keep it.
There are names I could list who mean a great deal to me - friendships forged I will never forget. I hope I need not name those names.
