New Source Development

New Source Development

So I got a new laptop and got quite some sparetime since vacation until September and I was thinking of maybe writing a new source.

What versions would you like? I will not go above the existence of Monk. The whole cancer area will not be touched. Maximum I'd go is probably around 5518, I'd go at any patch below though from classic to 2.0

I'm going to write it in C#, since most people seem to be familiar with that.

Patch: 5200

or if you think you can handle it: patch 5250

I loved patch 5250 honestly (acidcov3 - one of the v3s anyway)

My favorites are 4294 and 5187, and here's why. I like 4294 because it has the Conquer Online 2.0 theme without potency and CPs. It's like Conquer Online 1.0, but with the newer theme. It's beautiful and clean - no buttons on the screen, nothing. I love it. Then, there's patch 5187. I like the ability to ride around on horses, but it's not necessary in a game about 1000 coordinates between every city and the main city. What I really like about it is the arena feature. TQ rarely gets it right, but they got it right with that one. It has a few buttons on the main screen, but it's not full of ridiculous features and classes. I feel like it's a really good in-between.

I would say 4274 or so, saves you the headache with all the newer ridiculous features. Knowing you, you are lazy af (like someone that is in IT should be) so it will save you effort. Plus there aren't that many sources running on classic on which you would say: "this source is ok I am going to use this".

I would recommend 5199..
Its the same as 5187 but i dont know why, the patch 5199 looks better >_>
i had some font issues on 5187 and other small things
Arena, new Guild System, Clans and Ninja.. Ninja isnt so bad

I am working on a 5187, if you need Packet Structures, i may give them to you

why 5187? 5200 adds nothing major and adds the awesome ice effect (i think)

To answer your question, I don't like bound CPs. I don't even like CPs, so why add unnecessary UI changes? That's the way I see it, at least. That's the reason why I stopped at 5187. It's the first patch that's stable with arena.

This. Packets doesn't matter, since I am not updating or downgrading a source.
