I'm pretty sure you all have seen me posting around, helping, explaining and discussing. The section is pretty good to me, but it can be better!
I'm going to write a 'guide' of how you could behave in here to make it easier, for both you and the community. This 'guide' is mostly written for new users but old users can need it aswell.
Remember, this is only my way of seeing things getting better, and it's no order at all to behave like this. As I said, you are doing a really great job to make this section welcoming, but it can be better!
1. Asking for help
Ofcourse, sometimes we all need help, and there's alot of people of there that is willing to help. But, you have to make the right impression, and convince the community that they should help you. Heres some ways that I advice you to use:
2. CriticiseQuote:
- Always be polite, even though the person isn't intrested in helping you. He might get back to you later.
- Try to write as good sentences as possible, so it will be easier to understand and so you're not annoying them.
- Avoid writing with caps-lock, also known as capital letters. This will only annoy the reader and he might not be intrested in reading the entire request. Even though it looks better to you, like it's an emergency, the reader must be comfortable reading the text.
- Avoid words like 'plzz' , this will only look silly.
- Always try yourself at first, and if you tried and tried you could also add in the request that you've tried many times with no success.
Criticising is very normal, but watch out! Criticising can be taken in a wrong way, so here's some tips while criticising others:
3. Starting new threadsQuote:
- If the user is new and released or tried to help, avoid criticising. They are new and only tried to help, so give them a time before you comment them.
- Criticise on a polite way! There's no need for 'agressive' criticising.
- If you are going to criticise someone else, you can always include what they could of made different.
- Keep it easy. It can be taken as a flame both by users and moderators.
For the most part, avoid criticising if it's not really neceserry.
Almost all of us have started a thread or another. But you know, this is taking space and bumping out other threads. So here's some tips of what you should think of before you start a thread:
4. Private Messaging:Quote:
- Always use the search engine first, so you're question isn't already answered in another thread!
- Make sure the thread is neceserry?
- Make sure the thread is helping anybody, or giving important information?
- Have you created a thread in the past that is about the same thing as the new one, but noone replied to the one in the past? Avoid creating a new. If your old thread has been bumped out, I think it's okay to bump it and see if people can help you, but if people seen it and couldn't help - they just cant, you will have to accept that.
- Try to write an intresting title to bring viewers, but write an intresting text aswell.
- Do not write a line or two, try to write atleast five.
- Starting a new thread to tell us about your personal life or about your character is most likely not important here. You can write short information in your signature, no need to do a new thread about it.
Sometimes, you privatemessage(PM) someone. I've got a bunch of PM's, I always reply to every single one, but some people may not always do. Here's a little think-about while PM'ing:
Quote:
- Try to explain you're problem or whatever you're trying to tell, so it will be clear for the person you're PMing.
- Ask in a polite way, as always, but also try to convince him that he should help you.
- Remember, they don't have to answer, so make sure you can accept a no.
- If the member isn't answering you, don't write another PM. This will only bug them out and in the end you won't get help.
5. Words
Sometimes people both in-game and in the forum may type some shortcuts of words that you may not understand. To keep you away of asking others, here's a list of the most common words:

Last but not least: Always scan every file you download! Elitepvpers moderators is trying their best to keep the site away from virus and malware, but they can do misses. I would recommend you to use Jotti's malware scan, it's very secure and it's a internet scan ( No download required )

Have a good day!
