actually i'm using the sql sp4 to run my own server.

I was thinking of using mssql 2008...

what u think is better? and why?

not compatible
only mssql 2000 with sp4 or mssql 2005.
also no versions of mysql compatible

lol?
08 works as well :D

but why choosing 08? the resource consumption of 2000 and 2008 is the same as windows 2000 and windows vista/7

stick to 2000. it's enough.

why dont use the ferrari if its for free?

btw i think proto means mssql 2008, not myssql 2008 (which doesnt exist))

edit:
silk have you any sources that 2000 needs less ressources than 2008?

you can scan the databases for cross version compatability

aslong as the used commands/datafields from dekaron haven't been deprecated or changed you should be ok.

however, there's no real argument to use anything above 2005

i run on 2005 just for the replication to the backup dbserver :) 2000 works fine asswell asslong as u know what you're doing
