Ok, heres food for thought.
"Gems are determined by time of day"
I present this idea based on the fact that i had 2 chars in independent mines mining and both got a gem at the exact same time (to the minute anyway) My flatmate also was mining in another mine and said he got one too when i whispered him minutes later.
The Gems where all normal and for 3 players all to get gems at the same time i feel is a bit co-incidental.
This idea could be plausable as say at 45min past the hour a normal gem is assigned to anyone in the mine reguardless of position, how long they have mined etc.
This would regulate the amount of gems that a server produces and would be easier and give greater control within the game than a random generator would.
Now since we have all debated gem spots and even long ago talked about how 1 soc axes may/may not increase chance, i feel the timing (just like getting socs in boots, rings etc seems) we may find a pattern in gem rate.
The game is ultimatly a program with set rules so there must be some pattern at play.
I ask if everyone can post data on when they recieve the gem in the format of
SERVER (snowfall, dream etc) - TIME (server time)- DAY - GEM - RATE - MINE (pc, tc, dc etc)
I will collect this info and post my findings to investigate if timing is an influence (or if indeed is a factor of many influences) in gem rate.
Discuss. lol
