Hello, my son who is still quite young, won't mention his age, made a massive mistake. Over the years I have been upgrading my PC more regular than usual to enable his hand me down parts to become a powerful and very expensive rig. And last year he had a brand new motherboard and CPU
He stays with his mum 50% of the time and recently had a new expensive rig there aswell.
Unfortunately I think he became a bit curious about hacks and cheats as his friend claimed to do it successfully, despite me always warning him not to ever try anything he was unsure of and always asking me before he installs anything etc.
And so he let said friend show him how he did it. And his "friend" assured him that throw away accounts would be fine and my son thought as it was on creative anyway it shouldn't really be an issue.
Unfortunately my son didn't know that IP bans or HWID bans were a thing. And after his friends 1st attempt led to a 24 hour warning he switched to another throwaway account and now the result is my son can no longer play Fortnite on his nice shiney expensive PC.
I'm absolutely furious that my son was so silly to forget my warnings but even more furious that said friend just goes back home and continues to play on his PC while all my hard work in getting him to this level seems to have been undone. Ive been collecting games for him for almost 10 years and he has around 500 games on epic and 100s on other launchers aswell.
My son obviously discovered he couldnt play after he'd logged back into Fortnite after uninstalling and reinstalling the game.
I tried to message epic to explain that it wasnt actually my son who'd executed any cheats etc but they were obviously not interested and they claimed his account is now permanently banned.
However I did not find any of this information out until after my son had stayed at him mums and successfully logged in and played for a an evening there. It was on his return the next day where he came to me in tears.
I have many questions but my main ones are....
Now he has logged in here on the banned PC and epic claim his account is banned, will the apparent Hardware ban also take effect on the new PC at his mums house?
If his account is actually banned would he be able to log in at all anywhere, as he has also managed to play a game on his account on an android phone.?
If he logs in to my PC, would that be subject to a ban etc? In other words, will hardware bans follow his account? And then would my account receive a ban?
Is he likely to get bans on other games now?
We really dont want to lose his account with all his games on but I don't want any tainted PCs in the house, I dont want to be buying games for him in the future only for him to be banned on them.
His PC has 7tb of storage. I keep reading that a new motherboard and storage is needed to get around this apparent ban. So have I got to basically scrap the nvmes and ssds as I dont want them in any of our other PCs in the house if they are likely to trigger bans and I couldnt bring it upon myself to sell them on and cause someone else a problem later on down the line.
If I get him a new motherboard and nvme can he log back into his account? Or is this going to trigger something?
If he signs in to the PS5 or a switch, will this be hardware banned?
I'm not interested in spoofers thankyou, I just want his PC to be back to how it was before he let that toerag friend near it. And Ideally his account and all his games be safe to okay on now and in the future.
Any help and advice would be much appreciated.
