Hack for socketing

Ok... im a complete nb, + i understand nothing of programming, hex editing, or anything of the kind...
But i just thought of this possibility, and i'd like to know if its feasible.

Would it be possible to change something in the game, to allow players to equip ANY item on the right hand weapon slot?
It may sound stupid, but if it was possible maybe we could use Artisan Ou in BI to socket ANY item... and that would rock :D

I browsed the foruns and found nothing about this... If its a good idea, let me know :D
If its not... well forgive my noobness.

Apparently this used 2 be possible for armors, that was before I started playing anyway but it's fixed now

This is not possible as far as our knowledge goes.

It was possible to change a few files in CO 1.0 to make ArtisanQu to make it easier for 1/6 db sockets... However, afaik it's server side, yet anything on the net can be hacked enough to make it possible.

Which reminds me, I forgot that project that I was working on... ty!

i think it is still possible, with another method.. just change a key argument that disallow you to equip non-weapons on your right hand, in memory.

well i personally dont know how to do this... i just know that there has to have a flag check in memory for the BI artisan.

instead of telling the guy to soc your right had, make him soc your head/body or something.
or
make your head/body position seem like your right hand position, then send this packet.

That will be hard but ill try, good idea anyway...

doubt this will work ever again. it seems that whenever a socket is requested. server checks that you are a weapon, and not a piece of armor. how? every item has a base item id, even if you managed to somehow equip your armor in your hand, the base id wouldnt match that of a weapon, and the server would reject it.

 shame... it would be great... but if any1 still want to take a shot at it, or have any ideas on how it could be done, feel free to post.
Theres also an interesting conversation going on another thread... "BI socketing"
