Some questions about running a private server :)

Hello to whoever reads this, I hope you are doing well :)

My thread is simple. I just want a greater insight into running a flyff private server.

Despite playing numerous flyff private servers in the past, I am new to all things to do with running private servers so please simplify as much as possible any responses haha.

1. What steps are needed after obtaining the files of the game?

2. Which servers will be needed to host a private server? VPS and OVH are terms that I have come across but if someone could explain this further

3. Many private servers in the past have failed and new private servers only last for a few months before shutting down. Why is this?

4. From a legal perspective, a flyff private server is "illegal" but why have some private servers been online for years like insanity flyff?

Any responses are greatly appreciated! You can always private message me too on Discord (Hoang#0059).

Thanks for reading

3. Failed and shut down except from scammer admin/owner/developer, poor-coded source/serverfiles, and how do you think they do to fix it ? Ask here at epvp or any other forum for help so desperate to open a server even knowing that they couldn't sustain its source stability and their server host.

- Starting up SQL Server for persistance, configuring ODBC DSNs for connectivity between the files and SQL Server
- Configuring the files to run with SQL Server and the just configured DSNs
- Configuring the files like adjusting rates, drops, NPC shops, etc.
- Setting firewall rules to allow external connectivity if needed

VPS is just the short version for "Virtual Private Server" while OVH is a server provider.
For private projects the own PC should be enough for a while. When needed, a VPS might be a good option for hosting a private server with a small amount of players.

Lots of factors might play a role here, but in the past lots of server administrators have been just there for the easy money.

Aeonsoft/Gala Lab and Gala have treatened Flyff like a step child always since. Private servers have never really been in their interest. Can't say anything about publishers like Webzen, etc.
There have always been rumors about DMCA takedowns since easy private server times, but I have yet to see a single confirmation about them.
