Client Side Mods

I have a couple of questions about the client side mods, which have to do with how the prefab xml files.

I looked as the CryENGINE documentation and I am having a few issues mainly with particle effects and changing models.

Each Object / brush / comment / etc all have Id = {XXXXX}
I know that the ID does correspond to the actual model somehow. Replacing the model, requires replacing the ID.

I replaced a model files with another model, this caused the model not to show up at all.

I replaced the ID in the interaction.xml and that caused the model to show up.

I tried adding a brush to the model with a particle effect, and nothing happens. I am guessing this has to do with the ID, but I am not sure which ID I should use.

Is it possiable to copy particle effects from different objects or are the effects somehow links to the model files.

My other question is about the <export> XXX </export>
When tried adjusting the scale of these particle effects, the effect did not show at all. Are there special limits of these effects?

Howdy, I just picked up a little information about clientside modding for ArcheAge, and I am severely interested in doing some changes myself.

I am new, but also semi-experienced with the modding "methods" to changing textures. I've had some previous things for another game back about 5 years ago where I've gone through the games coding and DDS images to find, list, and name the different costumes, armors, weapons, and body effects.

My goal here is to pretty much do the same for ArcheAge, I mean c'mon, what's better than changing a old measly Prisoner outfit into a whole Pirate outfit! :)

That's what I like to do, I know it is client based, but its better than nothing. I was hoping that you could teach me on how to properly find the IDs you've talked about and the proper way of changing textures around without breaking it.

Honestly, I would love to help, but I am not 100% sure how the textures work. There are a couple of people who know much more than me, but they have not commented as of yet.
I know that the textures can be 2 - 3 files that are .dds and I believe they are link to the mtl file which has information about the textures. I dont have a program that reads mtl files, but I hear if you can get your hands on cryengine 2 ( not the newest ) that should answer a lot of questions.

You can also look at the Cryengine Documents wiki, its not a hreat amount of help, but it will give you an idea about things like how the textures interact with the games xml files and ect.

yea, get a copy of Crysis. It comes with CryEngine 2 sandbox on the CD.
