"I have currently working .dat modded file of monster to make Meteor Dove huge to make it easier to see. This one has been out for a while. The .dat modded file to make people fly and also the extensive trick to d/c people. Also have the trick to socket armor as easily as you were making a socket a weapon. This trick you need the exploit and another trick goes with it. All the hacks are currently working. I am just waiting for the cue to release them. I have screenshots of them working as well. You may delete this thread if you want but you cant delete all of them because they will be release on numerous boards."

this was on the CO forums the other day and few people responded saying they know of the armor socketing trick. anyone know how this is done?

sumone wrote how to do it, i have no idea how to do it so ima post what they wrote in hopes that sumone who knows how to edit the files can do it and share :)

"BI Socker = Edit ini itemtypes.dat/ini and change
armors/items into weapons, then back, then when the server

Well... okay, let's try this out on a methodical way.
We all know they "hex'ed" the dat, but left the old itemtype still in. So this should come handy when trying to decipher the meanings. All we gotta do now is take out a few lines and thank god (TQ) for putting up all those stats on their website. We should be able to identify most propertys.

By example, line 8681

Now let's compare all the lines and see whats different or which line is used for what. Should be fairly easy with the TQ Website as a help. Next step would be to isolate the value that defines if something is a weapon or not and then hexedit the dat file, change the number and test it.

But just to state it, i don't believe this works at all. But then again, superman bug worked too and it was editing ini files too. I'll analyze it later on, gotta go for now.

So far, every weapons seems to have column 20 and 21 in common. So that is probably the field where something is identified as a weapon. Got no clue why Speedarrows are included there though, maybe they are just something ouf of the common use. Now we'd need someone to hex the dat file and test if this really does the trick.

its in there multiple times because there is actually
class1
class2
class3
refi
eli
super
if you look at the stats pages for weaps and armor
theres 3 listings before refi notice the differences in atk/def in those 3 listings? :) so ya gotta be sure to choose the accurate one. im looking over the ini now to look for differences between armor and weap
if i find one i'll post.

I posted the differences allready, but i hope you find some more.
However... there are SOME Items that are there 6 or 7 times with exactly the same value so it can't be the quality thingie. Maybe just dummys.

Ok, tried it. Took a normal Attackring Level 1... just to make sure i changed all 3 of the standard versions. I edited column 20 and 21 to be in Unison with the columns of a weapon. Then went to BI and checked on my noob.
The good news is... it's not giving you any error message, the bad news is... not working at all.
I even tried the lame way of copying in the line of a weapon... no change at all except for totally messing up my Itemtype.dat :D

As expected... but someone else, feel free to try on.

kalvam, i was told this is pretty much only good for doing on armers, everyone i know who knows how to do it wont say how its done, but they did say that its for armers and not items :(
so go try doing the thing u did but only do it to armer and if it works do tell what needs to be changed :)

Edit: Ideas for hacks revolving around this.....

Lvl 120 +1 items can be used with any other lvl 120 item. Maybe we can find out what all 120 have in common and change htat with the rest of the items. Now you can compose any item with any item.

Switching the ids of the same item but different quality so you buy supers from the shop.

Finding the ID for Mets and dbs. Then switch them. Now you can upgrade your items with mets instead of dbs.

Many possiblities with this sexy file :P

Tried it on an DeerskinCoat... didn't work.
Someone else feel free to try on.

What i did try to change was the columns 20 and 21 as well as the first column after the name in cases where it could apply, didn't work this way.

Same thing, different ID, can't find the one i found within the 120s though.
I for my part give up on this one, as i highly doubt this will work at all. It's possibly just an urban legend like Guards dropping Dragonballs more often than normal mobs. The only socket bug i knew that worked with confirmation was to change all meteors to met tears and upgrade 3-4 Times in a market. Almost every time i tried that, i got a socket. THIS IS FIXED BY NOW, so don't waste millions of mets just because i mentioned it.
