Client Integration

Quick question: Since, let's say the Eudemons and CO client are 'similar', do you think you'd be able to use files from the EO client on the CO client? Have any of you tried anything like that? Just curious.

Well what is your definition of "files"? I'm certain that there are at least some files that won't be compatible when you cross them over.

If you're talking about weapons/pets/effects etc.. then I'm sure it can be possible since I, myself, have ran a Eudemons Server before and tested some textures on a CO client and they seemed to work quite properly.

On another note, sometimes it's best not to take "everything" from another game's client even if they are quite congruent simply because it might cause disorganization within your original client and along the way, some sort of "chaos" lol.

EDIT: Read what CptSky said.

Yes you can. All TQ games use the same engine, so you can use the same files (except for exceptions).

Oh wow, I actually didn't think "ALL" of TQ's games were similar in engine lol.

But there are exceptions into what can be transferred between clients, right?

Well, maybe they've developed a new engine, but I doubt and it wasn't existant when I was active. Eudemon, Zero, Conquer, Era of Faith, Crazy Tao, Warlords are/were all based on the same engine.

Yes, but in general it will works if properly added. I wouldn't be able to give exception for the moment.

Edit. C3 is the common 2D engine used by TQ since... Early 2000s. S3 is the new 3D engine used by TQ in at least Dungeon Keeper (probably with some inputs of EA). U3 is another 3D engine, unrelated to games. So yes, all 2D games (incl. 2.5D) use the old C3 engine.

Screenshot of the 3D engine, not really impressive :

You're correct CtpSky, the 2.5D games all still continue to use the same engine, which is c3; though, they have updated the version since the release of Monsters & Me (which used c3 1.0). I'm not sure what version they currently use, but they do still use c3 without a doubt. All I know from my own experience is that the c3 core in the clients has been updated several times since the release of Conquer Online, and many other 2.5D game clients from TQ. You can view the engine if you download the Eudemons source from the other section.

Hmm, interesting. Thanks for the info guys. Just wanted to know your thoughts on it (:

LOL their 3D engine quality looks like the Warcraft III engine (not even like the current version of it used in WoW, which is still pretty ugly).
