What was the ideal patch for CO?

Just wanted to ask the very opinionated community of Epvpers what the best patch in your opinion was for CO? Preferably classic CO (At least whatever can really be considered classic). I looked at the state of CO now and it sucks quite badly. The gameplay is horrid and all the new spam and mounts and chi and all that is simply bad.

The reason I am asking is that I am slowly starting to form a plan on what kind of server I'd like to personally run. I have all the money needed for it, but kinda rusty on my CO knowledge.

Money doesn't bring talent. (Yes in a way you can get a programmer). So before creating your server, Get a public source [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...], choose the one that match with your ideas and learn from it.

Otherwise I think the best version of co is 5065 :)

Money won't do you anything good when it comes to Conquer developing, except for hosting.

If you really want to make a good server you'll need to learn how to code or find someone who can do it for you.

Well, the way I see it. I can manage the server and pay all the expenses to facilitate a huge server. Ex. I want to basically be able to have a large amount of players on server instead of breaking it up to different servers like some other private servers out there. I also miss old school CO and all the new private servers I've seen so far are either super laggy or have all the new updates that I think ruined the game.

I miss the days of 2nd rb 137 no talismans or chi or any of that. I'll also get rid of BP.

Another qualm is the fact that most have very high rates. I'd just do something like 2x so it actually takes time to level.

Edit: Finding a good coder is something I am looking into right now.

Paying all the expenses is only a part of the whole ''project''. To have a good amount of players in the same server, You must have interesting features, Balanced system, Stable base/source and many other things.

Yeah, I miss those days too, But well conquer has reached a new level, Which is not liked by everyone. 3/4 of the community like to get maxed in 30 minutes of gameplay so that's why most of the servers have high rates. Most of the servers are there only for personal benefit purposes.

Depending on the project I tend to hire myself out. You seem to have reasonable ideas about what a server should be so would be less hesitant towards the work lol.

That would be something that could be discussed in private :) I am quite easy to work with.

I am honestly of the firm belief that if players were to find a good stable server then they wouldn't care so much about the leveling as much as they would about the actual play experience.

The basic ideas are as follows:

1. Create a starting server that would have at least 400 players.

2. Create a second server so that there would be a possibility of inter-server war.

Reward players based on their input into the game. Bringing new ideas ETC. I actually read the post about creating something like the Sword Art Online levels and I loved it. Those sorts of things would be of very high value to the server.

3. Apply certain graphical additions to the game that were implemented in later patches.

Example: The Halos for best character of each class. However instead of an NPC based event. Have an actual event ran by a GM that would have the reward of the Halo for best Trojan etc.

Example: Players that have shown outstanding support to the community would receive other special benefits such as perhaps CPs or customized looking weapons.

4. The reason I loved Conquer Online back in the day was due to the fact that there were REAL ramifications to PKing. These included the fact that you could lose your gear without the option of buying it back when you went red or black. Instead of having a Jail where a person couldn't get out right away I would want a system where the red/black named player would have to help out a player new to the server as a way of "community service" for PKing too much and GETTING CAUGHT!

Of course much of this is dependant on the community, but I think that everyone is tired of the same old shit that is the generic CO private server. We can do a lot of good. The main reason Private Servers are so attractive is that everyone's input can actually matter.
