The password is likely just a hash.

It's possible to simply remove the password from the archive on old archives, it depends on his WinRAR version. We used to do this shit for fun back in the days when HTS IRC wasn't full of dipshits. :P

EDIT: Rar'd with 2.9, that's crackable. I'd take it down if I were him.
