Open-Source Project

Hey everyone,

So, you might remember that I said I was going to make a new open source after Christmas, and I wasn't joking around about that. I'm going to make an open source for multiple games offered by NetDragon Websoft. You all chose Conquer Online (1.0) and Era of Faith. I might add Warlords to it but we'll see.

Now, a few things have changed. First, the project doesn't have to be in C++ anymore. I got the job and I'm working on C# programs there (the company is changing to C#). Soo... the source can be in whatever language you want. I added a few options to a poll, so vote for what language you feel comfortable developing in.

That's it for now. Cheers,
Spirited Fang

PS: I rather not work with C# since I do that a lot now.

I most likely will ignore everyone who says C#. I'm completely regretting putting that up. There are enough C# sources in the community and I will NOT be making another one. This poll is to help influence my final decision, not be the final decision.

95% of the community are using c# and not because it's easy or they know a shit about c# but because impulse,pro4never and others released c# sources
so if you released something decent in c++ or even java ppl will still use them and learn there language for sake of using them

do what you believe it's right and good for you
you won't apply what people say if you don't like it :D
and you already know what people gonna vote for :D

If you decide on Java I'd be more than happy to help out.

Edit: Also if you go with Java I have a starter source that may be of use as a reference for some things. [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]

I'm currently deciding between C++ using QT, and Java. I want to make something that's cross platform (since I have no experience doing so, yet).

Java should be avoided like the plague given its numerous performance problems and the fact that it runs in a Virtual Machine.

My Java professor tried to claim that Java has better performance than C++

I then died a little inside and judged the rest of his lecture very, very harshly. I'm sure he just misspoke or was referring to some very specific area of the language but was still very unimpressed.

It's got buggy compilers and it's a new language with very little libraries to work with. I'm not wasting my time using a language that might return buggy results. It's new and I'm not trusting it until the industry starts using it. No to D.

Fiiiiiiiiine. I vote ANSI C++ then (I accidentally voted Microsoft Visual C++ on the poll though)
