[help] Starting Items (buffs)

Hi again :)
I was wondering if anyone knew how to get items (30 day buffs like Ress Runes, PiD's and so on) "equipped" when you make a new character.
I found out how to change the "bag" starting items, in [PS_GameDefs] [dbo.BaseItemsDefs] So i can set those items to be in players bags, but i can't work out quite how to have them automatically "used" when character is made.

I'm sure it has something to do with that table, or in the stored procedures like
[PS_GameDefs] [dbo.usp_Read_BaseItemDefs_R]
[PS_GameData] [dbo.usp_Read_Char_ApplySkills_R]
But i honestly have no idea where to start on this. I checked the forums and used search and couldnt find any more information on it, even though i'm sure it's been posted, so if anyone can shine some light on this for me, that would be really appreciated, Thanks :)

PS. I tried changing "slots" value to 0 on the [dbo.BaseItemsDefs] table in the hope that 0 would mean "equipped" but it just added to the next empty slot in my bag :)

Ahh, thank you EarthCrush, i know i've seen it done on ShaiyaX, but i'm sure i've seen it in 1 or 2 other servers aswell. You might remember me from ShaiyaX actually, played there for a bit when it was starting up (Mr.X)

I'll give the skills a go, but as iĉm still a newbie at SQL i may have some troubles, but i'll give it a go and use my brain for once .) you might see me here again saying i failed at it soon though :P
Thanks for the help EarthCrush :)

And btw, i noticed in ShaiyaX you have your custom designed armors (i'm sure it was there i saw it) I'm having troubles with capes when i put them in the game, i'm thinking it's something with the alpha shine when i save, but i may be wrong (completely useless with PhotoShop) But when i import the DDS into the game, and try use my cape, the design itself is all reversed (inside of the cape appears on the outside of the cape) have you seen this problem before and know how it can be fixed ? I can post some SS's aswell if they would help you to understand :)

Screenshots would be nice to confirm, but from what I understand it sounds like you're treating the DDS file as the entirety of the cape.
How those textures work is that the DDS is only the right side of the cape, and then when loaded onto a 3D model the texture is mirrored over to the left.

You need to treat the "inside" of the cape as the middle, not as the left side of the cape. What you design on the right edge of the cape will appear on the left edge in game, what you design on the other side of the texture will be mirrored in the middle.

If my assumption is wrong then some screenshots would help.

That sounds like you're completely right there Klaries, even if it did confuse my little mind :)
I'll grab some SS's for you and add them in an edit, just so you can be sure.. if that is the case, is there another file that i need to be editing each time aswell? liek 3DC or something ?

Thanks for the help :)

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/714/alphaep.jpg/ <-- I did something wrong with the alpha here, i know that much.
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/16/reversef.jpg/<-- this is the problem i asked about, also i just noticed the white )what i guess is alpha) bit along the bottom, making the cape shape look wrong.
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/694/ddskk.jpg/<-- this is what the dds looks like, so you can see how i'm "trying" to get it to look :)

Few quick questions to go with those, what is the proper way to save each file using photoshop.
After selecting file type (DDS) it takes me to my nVidia plugin, what's the correct DXT option to choose, and also what Filter type in Mip Map Filtering should i choose (i have triangle as default).

Thanks again fr any help you can give here :)

edit:edit
I tried what you explained about the mirrored image, after reading it a few times to get it in my mind and not be confuzzled, and it seemed to work 100% Got it in game, all looks right, used DXT5 with triangle Mip Map and it didnt have that strange white bit at the bottom (just 1 white line through the center which shouldn't be there, but that was probably me doing something else wrong in the colouring.
So thanks for taking the time to explain it a little to a newbie :P I'm guessing hair is the same sort of thing as capes, cuz you only see half of the "model" but armors are normal (not mirrored) ?? :)

And just a quick check on the correct settings to use and everything, cuz the DXT5 was a complete guess and a lucky one :)
