Unless they are THE BEST. But, ya'know.
To be on the same level in this regard, we would have to define what makes a good character in the first place. I mean you're right, I haven't seen it all that often that a story or the characters in it suck but the rest was unbelievably great, so to some extent I'd definitely say that if something's well made, most of it has at least a certain quality standard. Generally speaking, a character which fits well into the story is what I'm expecting, if they're then continuing to improve the character by making him/her more realistic (in the sense of not making characters "perfect") and multi-layered (showing the viewer more than one side to them, strengths and weaknesses, fears, etc. - generally developing the character), we can start talking about a great character.

I've seen plenty of others lately, but these are the ones I've picked off as more of a dedicated(?) slice of life. Of course, some with genres based on supernatural and all that. As you can see, they are quite similar, but this is within the past week or two. To be honest, that's quite a lot :3
They were pretty decent though, imo.
Haven't seen any of those. :o Wasn't Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu that anime with the same episode repeating over and over again?

I have just seen the series so far, but I guess the movies will soon follow. Madoka was probably one of the most surprising anime I can remember. I didn't look its story or anything up prior to watching it and just relied on the recommendation of a friend, so what actually happened wasn't exactly what I was expecting after watching the first one or two episodes with a rather low expectation. The story made me feel really bad for Sayaka, although one could argue that all characters aren't exactly lucky.

Yeah, I could follow with that. But also what defines the great character is probably how much the user connects to it. They could have a load of development, but if we can't understand that (even though you are aware of the development) it can make it go downhill.

Aw, I can't write much because I'm way too tired ;_;

"The Endless Eight" Oh boy, that was one hell of a ride. A lot of watching that was. However, even though it is extremely tedious, it was meant to be that. Along with that, you also feel bad for one of the characters as it goes on.
Does that mean I could recommend you some? ;) Should get the list super high!

I believe the first and second movie are just recaps of the series, so you don't have to watch them. They might have a few changes, but I didn't bother.

I can agree, my expectation was rather low as well. To be honest, in some sense, it was rather psychological as well. I'd say for Madoka, you really get attached to one or two of the characters.

Which brings me back to my previous statement about how much I loved slice of life just for the characters. :P

I'll check 'em out as soon as I can. That'll probably be an eternity from now (a month indeed feels like an eternity), but I will.

Yep, it was in every aspect pretty surprising and enjoyable. I liked the characters, their intentions were understandable and considering that we only get to know them for about 12 episodes, it was very well done. I'd much rather have a story that gives itself a little more time to develop characters and explain everything, especially because Madoka felt like a total mindfuck in the end, but hey, great nonetheless.

Well, I do have a PS3 but the only purpose it had over the last couple of months was playing blu-ray discs, and aside from that, I don't even own that many games. I was really disappointed when I bought a console back then and games still had a lot of lag, that was nearly the only reason I ever bought the damn thing and then it couldn't even do that. :\

Well, I own a PS3 as well, but I mostly use it for it's video player, so I can watch anime on a TV, can't be bothered using my laptop for things like that (unless they are .MKV format)
Yeah, some games do have weird stutter rates, but there are some decent sales on there (well, not compared to Steam ofc).

I just brought FFXIV, because I wanted to try it out. I believe it's 12 euros at the moment.
Some games barely have any lag though, it all depends on the game. Not trying to "defend" it or anything, but it differs from game to game.

Honestly, if you don't enjoy Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu don't try the tedious Endless Eight (which is basically 2/3rds of Season 2), it can be hard to watch. It also has two different orders you can watch it in as well. The "release" or "chronological".
When watching anime, things go really fast, but feels like an eternity if you are waiting to watch something else.
I'll be watching Bakemonogatari soon.

I really enjoyed Natsume Yuujinchou (all 4 seasons, I believe they have 13 eps each) and GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka) out of the mini list I gave you. Great Teacher Onizuka is really funny and it has pretty good character development :o I prefer the manga ending for GTO though. (Well, where the anime ends) I heard it lasts much longer.

Actually no one ever thought that it would be a 7-1 for Germany.
Those who bet on a 7-1 can be really happy.

It wasn't even possible to bet a 7-1 in the most betting offices.
