As the one above me said: 50% of the problems come from the community.
blacklisting, dossing, ddossing, finding magic packets to crash the servers all this greediness will simply not allow to revive the scene.
Furthermore, as soon as someone opens a badass server, where tons of players play, it takes a few eye-blinks until some other fags open the same type of server.
The community then says: "fulfill our wishes, or we will leave the server". Mostly spoiled kids. And then you have the 50%-community-split.. again and again and again. You'll have 5 active players each server again, like it is now.
War is over kids, your teddy died. Go home and seek something else to play.

Let's think about what you said. Firstly, of course it's community's fault, but if I remember well Skalidor, Myth and other bigger servers failed not because of "shitty" community. Most of you blame only community... But it's the fault on both sides. Most people left these servers after making strange updates etc or not fixing their "features".
If you are coding a program and then sell it. After some time your customer find bugs and what you do? Blame him that he found them?
If you are making a server then you should be prepared for this kind of "situation"...
