So, this is the post that you guys did NOT want to read and NOT want to have.. but well it's there and there isn't much you can do about it. The problem is pretty simple. There's no TIME!
We had tons of OVH problems which weren't so unexpected but they have taken waay longer to solve than we thought it'd take.
I do know that the release has been delayed since months but why do you think I keep doing that? We aren't doing it out of fun or because we are lazy.. in fact we are online and work almost all day long just to get this done.. but its still not enough to be ready completely. We've just finished the balancing completely.. but it's out of feeling and has not been completely tested. The prices here n there are also simply out of feeling.. we haven't been able to test that yet either. The FFA, LPS, JW, Race#2 events are also not tested 100% yet. It always takes like a whole day to test it out completely for each one of them and we haven't been able to do so. Thing is, we really wanted to be done completely but when you have shitload of problems coming up all the time because of the hoster or because of some stupidity.. things start to take time.
You guys are simply players and don't see the amount of work for a proper server. All those egys opening their crap use ready made shit thats simply no good. I remember the to-do list from a few months ago, it was shitlong, didn't even know where to start from. Now we've come to the point where things are done but aren't entirely tested out... We did that at Velestia before, we did that at Skalidor before... Remember how things just bugged around? It's not fun answering 50,000 support tickets, 200 skype PMs/day, a gazillion questions from the team AND develop/fix things at the same time. It doesn't work out. Other servers don't have this problem since they simply don't have any features that are worth playing. We do, therefore it takes time. It's not like we've got shitload of developers either. Simulation, who is the core pk2 editor that we've got only has time for a few hours per week. Denis, who handles most of the todo lists and tests ingame is there a lot, but things gotta be done before he can start checking them out. LastThief always did the bot and packet filter with me, but that's done now. All that's left is stuff like.. update thingy at launcher.. a few prices to decide here n there... rewards for achievements to decide... these kinda things. They don't take time in terms of coding/doing it.. but in terms of discussing it with the team and seeing the advantages and disadvantages. Just the client sided balancing took like 4 hours already, because we talked about it and had to keep changing things.
Furthermore, there is a moneytary issue that I'd like to address: We've started on Elamidas around February; Our costs until July were around 260€/month for the main server, 125€/month for the testsrv. Plus we didn't close Skalidor either, We kept it open until June/July until there were simply NO players left. Those are additional costs again.
Anways, it means that we payed around 400€ per month from feb to july. meaning 2.4k€ (yes EU not $$). Just to keep on working. Keeping ourselves motivated for the day we release this thing... its been over half a year. That's quite a long time isnt it? Would you be able to work on something for half a year? While people keep spamming you with bullshit like: "menz oban srvar" etc. I don't think so you would. So therefore, you might just wanna go and play Barbie for 5 days until we open up on Friday the 29th. Just leave us do the work and don't annoy us. Also to come back to the costs.. On Friday, I gotta pay like 460€ for the main server, 80€ for the test server and like 50€ or smtn for the webserver + reverse proxy for it. I would like to pay that with the donations that we get, but its not possible since the server open the same day... It ain't fun paying like 700€ out of your own pocket and listen to shitheads bullshitting. The ones that I'm mentioning won't even be able to read til this point.. but eh. Fuck it.
Anyways, I'm not in any mood to talk to you, give you more reasons nor to explain why it takes longer. Just try to understand that it takes 5 more days to release it. We did speak about this before on the main thread, since I knew this would happen.. however the team wanted to finish up as fast as possible and this gay skype group that I'm in has been spamming me since like 4 months now. Those fuckers don't ever shut up either.
I know you guys are mad. If you wanna try out another server, go ahead and do so... You know that there isn't a single server worth playing in the psro scene anyways. Either you flame more, troll more or just accept it. Five days isn't much, being a silkroad player it feels like all eternity. But eh.
Anyways. the 29th is the FINAL RELEASE DATE! There won't be any changes to that. Therefore, let me also give you a time: 17:00 GMT +1 | 29th August. That's the exact time when we open! All accounts will be wiped on thursday afternoon, therefore, register after that please. We still need the current chars to test out things.
