SV Workaround: howto make it work again

Explorer crashing + the fix:
err a bunch of friends have told me that as soon as they try to use key shortcuts on the desktop (ctrl+c etc.) drwatson comes up and explorer crashes. This problem comes from the emulator program, if you use SV and plan to chat etc. u should use the cracked version that doesnt need the emulator. I cant post it, but try to find it.

to edit it you have to right click on it go to properties and unselect read only then you can save to the file , rem to reselect read only after ..worked for me

Here is an autohotkey script that is extremely crude. It will only work for a default install of winXP and DO NOT RUN IT MORE THAN ONE TIME. I have put no error checking in it yet and it will write a line to your host file EVERY single time it is run. I will work on a version that is more user friendly but at this time I dont have the time to do that. I'll also post the authotkey script in case people wanna play with it or compile it themselves it is very simple.

The exe is not password protected so u can decompile it if u wanna check it yourself. Goodluck folks and hope this helps someone. You will also need to have admin rights on the machine to mod the hosts file and some virus programs may warn you that a system file is being modified. Let me know and ill try and help make this work for other. I may also add the reg hack that changes the dr watson debug to off. This will not stop the explorer.exe crash but it will stop it from locking your computer up for an extended period of time. I did some research and the reason it crashes explorer.exe appears to be a buffer overrun. This could be a security exploit or just poor programing. I have a test program that intercepts the bufferoverflow but it needs a lot more work before i feel it can be released to the wild. Let me know if anyone else is working on this.

I did the change and i save but when i press start this say to me:

if say returns to game and press key f11 i think this should work but when i return to conquer and i press f11 nothing happend

i had the same thing, it stopped working for no reason then after i recracked it it was fine, i have no idea what the cause was.

Open notepad, put 202.109.124.19 8008102299.com in there, then do save as.
Select the right directory in the "save in" like c:\windows\system32\drivers\et c\
For the filename type "hosts" WITH these quotations, and save.
If you got any problems saving, (ty GIZMO0425) make sure the folder is not set to read-only.
You can do so by going to the c:\windows\system32\drivers\ directory in the save as window of notepad, and right click on the etc folder -> properties.
Uncheck Attributes: read-only (at the bottom).
