There are two reasons why something would be unique when it's socketed...

1. It requires less mets to upgrade, so you can upgrade again and again.
2. Unique items can't accidently be sold to the NPC.

That's the only reason you have seen so many two socket unique items.

Could it be posible to edit the itemptye.dat and trick the client into thinking that a ring (for example) is a 1h .If so you could use it in your right hand and maybe soket it with a db in BI like any other wepon?

And if so does the server check this ?

they've had some form of this hack here before (several months back), but it only worked for armors if i remember correctly, and they did fix it.

I have heard that it depends alot on your characters luck which is supposedly dished out when you create ur character.
I have made three non weapon sockets and 2 weapon sockets(in TC).

About Quality - It may have something to do it but , My boots were normal , my cap was super and my Neckie was unique.

My boots and Neckie were found from mob drops that i picked up myself both lowest level which is why i kept them.

The boots and Neckie were done pretty much after system maintenance and the super cap was after rebirth.

Maybe Luck spreads too items as well as the hat became a 2soc shortly after i sold it to my frend.

Not sure if any of it helps but they were my personal experiences with sockets.

nope will not work, would be nice hehehe... but its serverside

Iheard theres a hidden attribute on items, for instance higher "quality" of a noraml item. maybe this is a factor as well?

there are variations in item atributes i think three different versions of each item.

More brainstorming incase it gives anyone any ideas >;)

are you referring to the L0/L1/L2 attribs?

those that will take the time to pm ill get an answer that has the socket "trick" innit... the reason i have people pm me is because i will only tell those who have my trust and contribute to the forums... i would post this in lvl2 but seeing as how imnot in lvl2 it doesnt work out :P it reallly isnt that much of a trick thoug but if everyone knew it it could be a big enough deal to mess up the economy and stuff.. i go it straight from the guy that could get like a socket everyday and its kinda obvious what it is cause i see no reason why they woldnt implement something that could only be used for one thing when it can be used for another lolz if you people that i dont pm back think about it youll figure it out :cool:

Trick(s) exist since in emerald server a ppl sell 20 socketed items a few days ago.... and he make socks himself ! (Most of items are normal, but there are ref and unique too)

Well, there is one guy in my server and he makes abou 140 mets everyday he plays in met zone and spams mets and he gets sockets :) He also has a friend and he's also full socket and thats the only way he tells me. Just spam like lots of mets at once. Save up a lot of mets and just spam and spam and you'll get a socket :). Anywho, thats what i know so far...maybe when i start spamming mets, i might find something out and i'll share here. When i say spam i mean 400-800mets and you have a chance to get them from 400-800mets. Well most sockets price around that so i usually buy but if you get lucky you might get boots in 400 mets or better yet 1 met :)

did anyone get socket of normal +1 item? I tried to socket +1 normal item (found in lab) but nothing happen. I tried a lot and still no socket. was wondering if anyone get socket from normal +1 thats found from drop. thx

You can socket any item as long as its not already 2 sock and must be upgraded using mets or dbs in Twin City, but it takes a lot of tries for it to get a socket and maybe if you are lucky, you might get it a couple of tries.
