Regarding the current state of SRO and it's outlets

Off-topic but I kinda missed those long af forum fights with walls of texts on each reply :D

Jokes aside, when oldschool iSRO went to shit, that’s when the golden era of private servers kicked off—ECSRO, SJSRO, ZSZC, you name it. But like everything else in the MMO world, they eventually turned to shit too. And now, all we’ve got left is the original trash next to a pile of trash made out of private servers.

We're not teenagers stuck in the early internet era anymore. Most of us have jobs, responsibilities, and barely enough free time. That oldschool hand grind with friends is no longer possible. That alone makes botting a must.

TLDR:JOYMAX is too dumb to ditch the outdated grind, and we’re too busy to play the game ourselves. And if that makes you feel any better, it's the same sad story with most MMOs these days.

Macro, "non-bot," "long-term" servers are where the majority of players are at right now. Even Electus hopped on the trend.
I'm willing to put my money on the line by opening a server with 0 donations available to the public, where I'll do a couple of edits on an old database that I have around, no extra fancy fluffy features available through filters, just raw, slow-ish progression, where 10 out of 10 times I will be right that no one is going to stick around long term, even if they don't have to pay.
Heck, it doesn't even need to be VSRO at this point, I can just open a server on Blackrouge since I used to work on ESRO while it was still 100 cap and I have all of those somewhere on a drive, it's as vanilla as it's going to get.

Why do I know I will be right?
1. The game is OLD
2. The remaining playerbasehas gotten OLDER, their interest in a new server is short-lived just like the inability for a zoomer to watch a video that is longer than 30 seconds, because there is nothing NEW to explore, to learn
3. This game will NEVER attract NEW AND FIRST TIME PLAYERS that will stick on some dude's private server when it's not even being advertised by a legit company that is running a LEGAL/LICENSED server.

What made iSRO special back then wasn't just the gameplay, it was the journey: slow progression, making real friends, doing your first job run, or even just grinding in Jangan cave for hours.

If a server brought back that slower, community-driven experience without overpowered items or unnecessary systems I think a lot of players would actually stick around.

It's not about competing to be the best in a season, it's about enjoying the grind together, long-term.

Count me in if someone builds that kind of server.

if you can spend more time on ur server would be better for ur players and be transparent on the website players status

That was funny, man, but what does it have to do with our topic? Does the number even matter anyway... I hope you realize there’s no specific number in my game. But thanks for keeping an eye on things.

There’s nothing that can help in the current situation. Problem number 1 is the idiot game master who spends money on guilds to play the game and goes around spreading false / fake information about others. Now, it’s all about who will spend more money on guilds and hold out for a month, because players will move to another server where they’ll get a new deal.

Is there a solution? Yes, there is. Once the game owners stop giving money to the guilds and let the community become fair again, it will turn into a quality challenge where players can choose where they want to play.

But I'm sure the game owners will never stop spending money on the guilds. So at the very least, let's just leave this community:kekw:, xD. I'm just working as a developer in this section anyway, so I'm not really losing anything.

After 15+ years in sro private scene I see same people around. I had more than 20+ servers and some was very successful and some was very empty. My point is nobody care about anything. Neither the owners or neither the players. Doesn't matter what features or shits you will do because nobody stick around anymore.

Here are the reasons

- players are individual and greedy
- owners are individual and greedy
- game don't have source code for better improvement like graphics or mechanics
- game don't provide new players to earn and grow
- game is old as fuck and people play only for nostalgia or to make quick money

End Story

Agree there is even some of them in this Thread who claim to offer fair gameplay server and they are fully corrupted owners

This ^^^^^^^^^^^^

I started sro when i was 8 years old back in like 2008 on joymax , i remember pressing manually 1234 for hours grinding as i had no idea how to set up bot. I played it with on and off untill recent years. And as you say userbase got old.
This is not even due to servers in general
This is mainly with people itself, now majority of us are old 18+ , theres IRL things that should be prioritsed over spamming some game for countless of hours and if you 18+ spamming sro 24/7 should have things checked out ( sorry but harsh reality.. )

People might get this nostalgic feeling to play it again, they play for few hours, set up the bot and game ends really, bot does everything , you check every 12 hours , move location and game plays for you.

Now when it comes to donations , i read a year ago in soem server how dude was grinding for 8 hours for equivalent to donation value of £1 in my currency , so its like NEVER gonna make realistic sense to spend so much time playing when i can get it straight away for 5% of my hourly salary, but then if i spend lets say the £15 hourly salary in my normal job that makes it 1 hour of real work = borderline top gear in server.
(Of course some servers more expensivie but tahts just example )

So then ok, you max lvl,max gear, you spent those £15-30, now what? , go ftw, go shit on few people in pvp , and thats it , game ends .
And if you gonna go with this logic , but whats the point to spend money if im playing game , but then it will take you years to be sames spot where it costs you an hour of your job.. and in reality the server will close down before you get anywhere near that level.

And i couldnt agree more but ye, the game grapichs, all the combos etc its just super outdated, sure perhaps its fun for us older " players " but try black desert online, 1 character has 50 different combinations, crazy effects etc , + nowdays people wont be spending 5k on brand new pc just to play game from 2000's .

I got a question. Why there are like 10 servers with 30.may.25 open date? What is going on?! Specally after that twitch ban wave for pservers streamers and everything. Did creators started leaking theirs files after the joymax search?

Another thing. The biggest problem on silkroad joymax is: academy sistem. If you try to get rank 10 on Theia, u'll pay for like 50k graduates+, dats a LOT of money. and if they see u growing they will stop ya, top 1-10 positions are sold.

Silkroad has no hope if community keeps supporting these concepts.
1. "seasons"- this the biggest bullshit i've seen in a while. A server can be good, milk your pockets then closes and re-opens like that supposed to be acceptable... You don't see isro trying that bullshit they would get sued.
2. Far too many servers opening every week. [cash grabs]
3. The "beta events"- majority of these events are just spam. If someone looking for a server they should be able to go into a thread and read what plyers think. Not pages of [INSERT SERVER] is fire! Best game, dumb shit like that.
4. over customization- majority of the new servers have too much customizations which makes the game seem too complicated or not fun to try. Currently playing on a server which got no edits, which is why the player base is minimal. Some minor edits are always accepted [bigger stacks, better exp on original quests, none OP auto equip].
5. This new no bot, no macro wave- i'm old now, I will never sit at a pc playing silkroad for hours no matter how fun a server seems, I got a job lol.

LITERALLY the server i am playing right now. Actually free no donations, no edits but we need players . 3 weeks in and I still not max level, actually making sets from 7d 8d 9d 10d, rarely any sox drops. People login, don't see auto equip and leave.

damn, what a couple of days of closed discord chat does to people :fatkekw:

can also add this to the list. The "pre-sale" before server even officially open. If that doesn't smell like a crash grab to you maybe I am different...

look at this shit lol, people actually spend this much on servers??
06/13/2025 00:48 HadokenV2#43
Seasons is an excuse for server owners to open/close & repeat their servers forever. They should replace this style with expansions of content. Example, I open Silkroad Gaia (made up server lol), it's 60 cap. we do this for 2-3 months, weekly updates all the usual shit, then we have an expansion. 70 cap, new zones, few new features to keep things fresh etc, and repeat for as long as the community is active. No character resets, no closing/re-opening bs.

Anyone that spends that much money on dead game they need to get checked.

Funny to see this if someone will splash £600 just for server to get shut down in 3 months .

I would say in my opinion and it only counts for what it is; not much.

There has been a few servers that have came, that the owner I, personally believe started with a pure agenda. That said, I think that is a dead (dying) breed. I look through the servers now, all for profit, everyone is spread thin and a private server is no longer...giving you the butterflies. Silkroad is quickly dying, if not already dead.

~~~Just an old timer from 05 giving my two shits.
