There are many things wrong with the sro scene, not even sure I could remember everything while writing.
P2W - Yeah, sro has always been p2w, including the original servers. Starting from the VIP system in the old times (as I know its still a thing on isro) to , it's just how they built the game, it was their decision to make their profit from not only cosmetics, but cosmetics that give advantage too.
Crate/Box = Magic POP with different icons & 1 click. Why people fail to realize it simply amazes me. And servers sell this idea as the core of "play2win" since you can get 1 box a day freely (or so). Yeah you could just give a pop card and let people roll in the npc, same result.
Jobbing - Main issue is that it's boring. Since every server is p2w , there's 2 class - >
Donators who just go thief with the best sets that they bought for silk ||
Free players who are forced to trade (and be traders) to have a chance to catch up with donators after 1-2 weeks of boring trading. Sadly thieves usually just take the goods in the early days, further fking up casuals.
Might be a considerable option to disable thiefing in the first 1-2 week -> Economy effects are untested so who knows.
Coins/Activity points - I mean there's a currency in the game already called GOLD, adding more kind of points coins just decrease its value.
Silk scrolls - Its just a QoL change that actually helps non donators too. I mean it's worse if the only way to acquire items like prem (or something that gives advantage devil etc) is to donate. Either remove the advantage items or keep the scrolls lul.
Profit - Servers need to make profit. Of course, you invest time (well not everyone), money into a project , you want to make profit. Which is completely fine, but since the community allows it, the main focus of the project is to generate as much money as possible in one month, then reopen the brand in a few months and do the same. Who cares if the server dies in a month if you made 5-6x your investment. I seriously doubt this will ever change.
Conclusion - Silkroad is silkroad. You can try to change it, but then you lose Silkroad.
Is it possible to make a truly play2win server that generates profit for the team ? YES.
Will anyone do it ? Unlikely.
$5000 in 1 month > $2000 in 2-3month .
P.S : Dizzy if u make a server drop coins/points/crates , make a server based on gold & silk. No joke I don't even bother to read threads that have 5 different coin types , 3 different crates , and 15 ways to obtain those. That's not Silkroad at all. Sro was never great because of those.
I bet everyone loved the buggy & laggy sjsro/esro more than any one of the past 2-3 years servers with their "epic" inventions =).
