Me and a few other simply asked some simple questions and had some concerns. Nor III or your semi-retarded last post answer any of them.

Let me simplify this even more for you.

A computer has an IP, lets say it's 10.1.1.1 in this case. If someone were to host something from this computer, it would show 10.1.1.1 as the host, right? Okay, here's to hoping I haven't lost you yet.

Now, a server hosting company has MANY single IP's. They range in between, lets say in this case, 10.1.1.2 to 10.1.1.10. Now, when people host a private server on a server hosting company, they "RENT" an IP address. So for arguments sake, lets say 10.1.1.5.

Now, when running a private server, [GM]s rent whichever server is available and has the best value for money (i.e. Minimal downtime for good server performance). Lets say that [GM]Syn rented the server with the address of 10.1.1.5.

Purity kept on going, but then when payments could not be made to the server company, they decide to do what any company that doesn't get paid does. They shut off the service. The company itself doesn't ask as to what's on the server, they just host. So now, 10.1.1.5 was a blank, rentable IP address.

In the meantime, Absolution was being concocted, or already created - who the hell knows - and waiting to be released. So as you do when creating a public server, the [GM] was probably looking for a server company to host it. If a good hosting company turns up with a good deal, I'm pretty sure that it's hard to skip. I mean, if you see a second-hand car that you've been looking for, that usually sells for $7500 for $6500 and you're after that car, would you just say "Nah, no point"?

So, 10.1.1.5 was rented by the [GM] of Absolution. The IP address is simply the physical address of the server computer/host. :rtfm:

The chances of obtaining the exact address from a closed server on a new server are beyond comprehension even if they are with the same hosting company.

If the "old" owner has reached an aggreement with the "new" owner to take over the server payments and use it for their new Game, why not just say so?

I believe the motive behind the original accusations/questions was:

Can the "new" owner be trusted not to take the $ and vanish? and i believe given the evidence it is a legitimate question.

Everytime an "owner" takes the $ and vanishes it throws a cloud of mistrust amongst players upon ALL server owners and GMs.

Anyone who questions if that they same people are involved at some level (pretty big level). Take 2 minutes to look into all the different domain names and IP. You have a better chance being shit on by a elephant in NYC then these servers not being connected.

Oh, and so you know the chances of the same IP being taken, it depends on the size of the server hosting company. If it's a somewhat small company, then the chances are greater than a huge hosting company. If you have a bucket filled with 10cent coins and a 1 dollar coing next to a bathtub filled with the same, then I think you'd have more luck getting that dollar from the bucket.

How a IP works has fuck all to do with it being so unbelievably mathematically improbable that there is close to zero chance for the two servers to not be connected.

There is nothing to clarify or educate on. In the last 2 months of Purity there were a total 5 purchases. 3 of the 5 purchasers knew exactly what was going on, are currently members at Absolution and were reimbursed. One was not able to be gotten a hold of (refund was sent anyway and never claimed), and the other was a family member of the staff.

The point of it all is that there are a number of people who are making assumptions. On both sides of the argument.

When all the rubbish started, I tried to be polite about it and simply ask that it be taken up on the proper forum. This was neglected. So be it. I asked the thread be closed since there was very little constructive feed back (whether positive or negative), and this was also ignored.

At this point, there really is no point in continuing to drag it on. If you don't like the fact that the server is running, that's your own opinion and you are certainly entitled to such. However, it does not take much to express it respectfully. If there is a bigger matter on hand, you won't solve anything by going off about it here.

We do, however, have a forum, chat, and a support ticket system. My skype name is also available there. It is not hard to contact me and ask directly what is/was going on. It is as easy as that.

Dazz, I appreciate you and your enthusiasm, but please, leave them go. It is a fruitless battle for both those defending and those assuming.

Points have been made all over the place and on all sides. Our point was made simply by being open and pulling the numbers we have aside from all this.

Their points were made when they found a medium to express themselves, correct or not.

Other's points were made when they managed to get a well known and respected member of this community to act below what most would have expected of them and add to the issues I am currently clearing up with the server while we move to a new OS and security setup. On this note, I won't state names only because I don't care to deal with it again. This has costs me much time and money already. But I will say this much:

I truly hope you realize just how bad you could have tarnished your own reputation and level of respect as well as everyone else associated with you.

I have a server to bring back up. I've not made any unreasonable requests. I have not given any false info to anyone. And I have provided you all with the means to contact me for further info on anything stated or pondered. There really is no point for it to continue past this point.

If you wish to do so, feel free. I've also removed my back link to ElitePvP. Do what you want with the thread.

Why you were so cryptic in your first few replies makes no sense at all. You should have came and posted openly that you paid back/ willing to pay back the last purchasers from the last few months of Purity.

The thread should stay for that reason alone. Even locked people searching should be able to see how you handled the situation.

I wasn't being cryptic. Not intentionally anyway. The actual possession of the server had changed hands several times. The future of it was a bit unclear at the time. Hence, there were no clear details.

As I have said previously, I am more than willing to explain to everyone what the situation was and currently is. All that is and has ever been needed was to merely ask rather than assume.

For those wanting a tid bit...

Initially Purity ownership was set to be traded off to another as I simply could not keep up with the expenses. However, I was going to stay on as the head of staff and developer. There was really no need to make the change of hands as far as ownership public if I were to remain in control.

However, plans had changed on the new owners end, and it was planning on being closed. Not by me. When I found this out, I started pulling funds to cover it myself rather than close it. Funds from my own pocket, not the donators.

It was previously stated in this very post that I and my wife were 2 of very few server founders that took it to heart and would break ourselves to keep it going. That was and is more true than most anyone in this community will understand.

Unfortunately, by the time I have managed to get my hands back on the server, we had already lost too much time, as well as data.

I had a choice to make. And I made it. Either I let everything I busted my ass for (with minimal assistance from anyone) just go down the drain. Or I break myself one last time in an effort to give it a fresh start.

Unfortunately for literally just a few people, they were not included in the decision. This was a decision that was made as a means to ensure that if we had to start over, the same people were not going to kill the experience for everyone else as they had before.

As per the name change here? Sry, but I can't afford to pay to change my name. So, as many others have, I made a new account. I didnt really think it would be that big of a deal...I never once denied who I am. Not to anyone. It is not my fault if nobody took it upon themselves to ask me directly rather than listen to hearsay.

In short, I did what I had to do to save nearly a year of my work, time, and relationships formed. And I did so in a manner that affected minimal people. You have to remember, in Purity's last days, we only had a player base of about 30-40 active players. Only five of which were regular donators.

Anyone that wants to make it out as taking a wad of cash and running for the hills obviously never took the time to actually get to know me, my staff, or the server.

The day we decided to close, there was $3.46 in our PayPal account. The most recent transfer was made over two weeks before in the amount of $184.86, the exact cost of the monthly payment for the dedicated server. $75.00 of which came from my own pocket.

It is amusing the extent of which things can get drawn out and exaggerated by simply not taking the time to get information from the source.

-Making end game gear available for upwards of $200 upon a episode update, only to stay quiet about how easy it would have been to farm. The location only made known after to those who donated. E.x. O.I. bosses for Lvl 69 set on a EP5 update.
-Poorly ran events due to incomplete details on the site forum or staff that refuses to acknowledge fault.
-Staff sharing personal information to players such as, but not limited to:
-Account information: Ele's, gold amount, gear, I.P. ownership, donation details.
-Staff preferred use of the, "We retain the right to revoke your account without reason as we own it." To rid players they so choose who would have gladly & freely left on BETTER terms, if only staff would use the hole on their face for its purpose. Speak up, or be chased down!

Are they legally in the right? Wouldn't doubt it. Consequences are not immune to both parties for treatment, I'm sure you can attest to that especially under your current server status.

Congratulations on coming clean with the difficulties you faced.

Its better isnt it. Honesty is the best approach.

I and my partner have been in this exact possition with EuroShaiya some 12months ago, unfortunantly we failed to keep it alive and were forced to start again as a new server.
