Real reason: Most players are usually male ingame, therefore introducing a marriage feature makes a lot of sense. Players automatically swap their gender just to be able to marry their best friend. We all know that there are almost no girls ingame anyways, in the end its all a "gay" marriage. Therefore, you might aswell go n make a female char to be wanted by all your gay friends.

It makes the game more dynamic, there's more of a difference of chars.. Characters look different and so on.
