No...hes being pedantic, what i said was correct, if the Thread starter cant grasp a language like C#, even the basics, then they will struggle with every source on this forum, so their chances of being able to grasp a language like C++, its just not going to happen. It has less to do with the thread starter, and more of your attitude towards the whole general idea. Just because someone's not good at C# means they shouldn't be here according to you. You did just say "If C# is boring then why are you still in this community?". What I wasn't aware of is that this community is strictly C# and no other language can be used here. Perhaps the thread starter is unable to do any type of coding in any language, but your approach on the subject is what is in question. For a mod, you have been very objective lately from what I've seen. He's here because it's an open community and there is always room for expansion and attempts into things not previously explored. In this case, servers in another programming language. If you want to stifle any and all thoughts/ideas of non-C# servers, by all means just say so.

No, as he has proved in this thread, and numerous other threads, he is here because he wants everyone else to do his work, you obviously didnt read my first post where i explained to him quite clearly that he needs to learn the basics of C# and the syntax that it uses, otherwise he will struggle with any source that he finds here, and that if he cant use other source code because the .cs files are named differently then he really is going to struggle with any form of programming.

And ultimately his reply "C# = BORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRING" sort of sums up what im talking about, while what your suggesting is a nice idea, and i wish everyone came here wanting to build upon the existing material that is available here and release new and better code. It simply isnt the case, the majority are here because they dont have the patience, understanding, time, whatever to write their own code, so they come here wanting it without offering any input.

This person for example flat out refuses to use a different source because doing so requires too much effort (despite the fact that if they put in the effort the source that they switched to would be a vast improvement), as a result they want the community to fix every bug with the source they do have, again because its too much effort for them to do it.

Bone....im not sure what kind of fairtale land you believe this forum is, but you are clearly blinded by something, which is causing you to not see what the majority of members are here for, and that is effort free, bug free code, in whichever format they can easily modify to get to the top of the latest "Top 100" site.

And its as simple as that.

@Korvacs: to be fair, it did sound like you were saying "if you dont know C# then your screwed". We can all tell the threadstarter is screwed either way, but to some people like my self (and clearly bone-you) it's hard to not write a reply to someone saying stupid things like that.

Well that's cool if he needs to learn C# to work with any source here. You said that along with "why are you still here?" as if he should leave just because he doesn't know it too. It's one thing to suggest someone learn it, and another to suggest they leave because they don't know it.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter what everyone is coming here for. You have to maintain your composure and be nice to everyone and not tell them to "leave" because they don't know the common language. It's kinda funny. This IS an English section on a mostly German board. Should this section in its entirety leave because we don't speak the common language here? 99% of people in this section do not know C#. A good portion of them will pretend to, try to mess with stuff, and just post problem after problem about how it doesn't work. You don't tell them to leave yet they flood the section with problems caused by not knowing the language at all. You got something against this one guy?

No, I'm quite aware what most people want. What you don't know is I used to do public development of a private server for a game oh so long ago so I know exactly the situation this entire section is in. Want to know the really really funny part? I did just what you're doing. I told people to screw off if they didn't know the language because I didn't want to deal with them. Know the difference though? I owned the community and that was how things went there. Here though, you do not run things and you are setting a bad example. I know you wonder why I'm still here in this community. But what I wonder is why are you still a mod if you have this attitude towards people. (and to tell you, I'm waiting for a C++ project here to get back into things. Since no one picked up on mine, I will wait until others have shown potential before attempting again.)

If you're not willing to put forth the effort to learn the common language and use what's already there, what are the likelihood you know a language?

Let's say for instance, you do know a language C/C++. Your name's boneyou and you walk into the community. You grab a source, you analyze it, ask for information, and you pull it off. You wrote a server base in the language of your choice. Bravo. At the end of the day, you already had a language you knew and enjoyed working with. All you needed was information.

For people that don't know any programming languages learning the common language is nearly their best option. Why? Because you'll be able to get more support from people in the community using the common language where as if you take the boneyou-path you better be good enough to pull off writing a server with only information.

That made me lol. Yes, I had prior experience, but my only point was the comment about "learn it or get out". I'm not debating any other part. I just think that was a bit wrong. That's all. I'm not sure where this turned from what Korvacs said into my knowledge of programming though. It still has nothing to do with a common language and it's all about being told to "screw off" because they don't want to learn it.

I never took anything out of context. You straight up asked him why he was here if he thought C# was boring. That was it. What is to be interpreted from that? Anyone who thinks C# is boring should leave? Anyone who doesn't want to do C# shouldn't be here? You tell me. They were your words and that's how you put them out there.
