Frame rate - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ideally your FPS should be the same as the refresh rate of your monitor, and the two should be in sync.

Monitors now are usually 60hz (some are 80/120 hz, etc).

Maybe, you can add in the old play.exe (the one that asks High/Standard), and then name the other launcher 'autopatch.exe', so it loads too.

Don't know if that'll work, but it may. =d

The higher your Frames per second, the better.

Why?

Because that shows that your computer is able to render whats happening on the screen faster and that means that the game will run smoother.

Low Frames per second shows that your computer is struggling to render whats on the screen and that means that the game will appear choppy and laggy.

One way to increase your FPS is to change the display resolution down so that your computer has to render less, this in some cases can provide quite a sizeable increase in performance, but not always.
