Laggy client

hey guys

I play on the server LastCo, and i have a client issue. i think my graphics card is old...but i dont want to replace it atm.

because it has a custom client, i cannot select 'High', or 'Standard' quality. because of this the client automatically goes high quality and my FPS goes from 1-20 and it lags like crazy. i have to keep relogging untill the client screws up and the graphics goes a lil retarded (i can see threw some garments etc).

A little while ago, i was ingame and a message popped up suggesting to change to standard quality, so i clicked yes. this fixed the problem but after an update, it reset back to high quality.

I was wondering if there is a file i can tamper, or something i can do to make it go to standard quality?

Odd my fps is around 30-50 and I don't lag one bit.

on most fps games 30 is the best .. lower will lag but on conquer low fps = good ><

Do you even know what FPS is? Because it seems like you don't, otherwise, you wouldn't have said "lower is better". On Ping, yes, "lower is better", but you want high FPS (around 60), as that makes the game look smoother (and even though Conquer caps at 40, why do you think there are FPS un-lockers...to get lower or higher FPS?)

I don't know what you're smoking, but it must be good to get you to think low FPS is better than high FPS, no matter what game/video/anything else. :/

edit: Wow. I wonder how many MORE people think high FPS is bad.
I thought TQ adding in the FPS was great, but apparently, it's got people thinking high is bad. x_x

Yeah, ive always had veryyy low FPS with the LastCO client, idk why.

Low fps = good, high = bad -.-!!!!

anyway mines 46. im thinkin hes saying high as in 400.. low as in 50s didn't know hes talking low as in 2 and high as in 50s

depends on ur computer also... shit computer cant handle low fps.

Dude you still have it backwards...

Frames per second (FPS) is the rate at which the graphics change basically. Think of a movie... they are a series of static (non moving) pictures played one after the other which our eyes view as moving seeing as the image changes so often.


The human eye can't really tell any difference past about 60-80 fps max so there is no point going much beyond that. Anything BELOW that though will make the image look choppy (not smooth transitions)

LOW fps is a bad thing. Conquer by default caps fps at about 40 but anything below 30 and you will start to seriously see some problems with 'laggyness' which is CLIENT side. Characters and effects will not move fluidly but instead will look choppy and it will be hard to do much ingame.



Higher fps = good. Go too high though and your computer will be using up too much processing power (not a real issue especially with conquer... I've run plenty of games at 100 fps and not run into issues. It only really happens at like 200-500+ fps depending on how much of a resource hog the game is)

Lower fps = bad. The game will look choppy and laggy and you will simply not enjoy it.
