I put all the links on purpose because the first IP is the server, the rest are the websites on different IP's DUH!

ur a retard if you think rising is hosted on a VPS, the only thing you linked to was web hosts, i have IPs being directed to my dedi, and if you look up the IP that i am directing it wont show where its being directed, only the place that hosts the IP address

first sentence on the page i might add, notice the term "managed web site. . ." guess what that means? here ill break it down so even someone as ignorant as you can understand, they HOST WEB SITES DATABASE AND EMAIL, not a VPS, it seems they also "offer" cloud services, which is not a VPS either

@Decima first I get flamed about rising on VPS. TBH they suck anyways and their server goes down and works half-ass. I remember a month or 2 to ago Nitex saying he was moving from his current VPS to another hosting provider because of constant DDOS attacks. Maybe his new provider isn't VPS I don't know.

My point being is everyone just comes here to flame no one helps anyone. You don't like VPS fine, lots of people do and use VPS. You can run a pserver from a VPS without a problem. Don't like it? Tough, it's life.

A VPS is a basic not as customizable server Hosted on a physical box sharing resources, but most VPS's use firewalls, routers, and switches to do bandwidth load monitoring. Plus hes just starting out hes not gonna have 20k people storming the server over night he doesnt need a dedicated line or server atm to be honest... Anyone that says he needs to get this Unreal specs and prices are just tryin to scare anyone thats new.

with this you get remote access, you can choose where your server will be located at, you can get a quad core, 16gb, 2x1500gb HD for $55 USD per month, you have your own machine, your own connection, your own bandwidth, and NONE of the headaches associated with a VPS, so why on earth are you pointing this guy to a VPS? thats just plain dumb, and you are doing exactly what you are accusing me of doing, yet i am not doing what you are accusing me of, and you are, you are steering this guy to failure right out of the gate, and i am trying to help him to succeed in his endeavor.

The nice thing about VPS is you can upgrade as you need. VPS is scalable. You need more RAM or CPU power then you upgrade. You look at your VPS cost vs a dedicated machine on a static IP. When it's more cost-effective, then move to a dedicated system.

Personally I use a dedicated server. That's because I already have the hardware and static IP's. If I didn't, I would look into a VPS solution.

you can upgrade a dedi the exact same, i have upgraded mine 3-4 times with no issues and nothing changed on my HD or setup, of course the cost per month has went up, but you get the same thing on a vps, so. . .

This topic has gotten way out of hand. But I think I must agree with Decima on getting a dedicated server over a VPS for the simple fact that a dedicated server seems a lot more secure and reliable than a VPS.

Now I know some of you are probably thinking "Oh another guy wanting to start a PS", but I only asked a question. Honestly I am not going pretend that I am knowledgeable about VPS or Dedicated Servers (which Is why I asked the question) however it is something I am keen to set out on.

@Decima I noticed on that link you sent me, would you recommend starting with the $44 a month then upgrading to a $54 a month? Or just starting with $54?
