True, but as far as I know, these comparisons show rendering performance utilizing every core/thread each individual CPU offers.
In games the i5 would be a bit ahead of the 8350 because games are not yet as heavily multithreaded/parallelized as rendering is, not that this means that so far every game still plays well on both CPUs.

If not, the CPU matters ;)

Intel + Amd is often cheaper and better. But Amd 8core is very good for games like Crysis3 which use more than 4 cores.

Of course, there are indeed cpu intensive games. For those games the cpu matters. But in most cases the gpu limits the fps.

I like AMD but only the AMD Phenom II x6 1100T a great CPU im sad that they dont want to work on a new Phenom generation, because they are better as the Fx 8350 with 8x4GHz.

CPU.. i dont know the haswell CPU´s, but 8350 and 3570k are even.

AMD Bulldozer CPU > not good for gaming
Intel i5 CPU > good gaming cpu

AMD 7970 > little buged, but high tpd and watt
GTX 770 > better performence
