just install the client and use dont update it or you will have all sorts of issues
what server pack are you using ? that sounds like a version miss match when it tells you font file miss that means the info in the client and the server dont match which could just be a region miss match in the launcher actly
diffrent regions use diffrent fonts yes just like windows on pc
