They are not the same kernel. You clearly haven't investigated Windows 7 very much.. Windows 7 was recoded from the ground up, sure the kernel is SIMILAR but it's also different in many ways. The major noticeable difference between the two can be easily accessed by a simple google search. Also, Windows 7 is far more graphically intensive and it likes to press your video card to the max. My system is very good, but windows 7 pushes it to the limits of course with chewing up 32% of ram at boot (4gb) on 64bit.. I have used both 64bit and 32bit windows 7.. I have also used 7600 RTM and I can tell you, they all have the same graphical issues.. I believe the drivers aren't fully ready or something. So I will be waiting to switch to windows 7 until they address the memory leaks during certain games (css had some problems too on 64bit)..

Try XP SP2; SP3 was sort of a weird compatibility option to add as SP2 works fine for most of your problems.

Windows 7 is just as fast as Vista if not faster. Those things usually don't work anyways, it's usually a placebo effect.

Windows 7 is the fastest current windows operating system, faster then XP... It does everything faster, especially rar compiling and installing stuff. Check out benchmarks =]

I am aware. I've been using Windows 7 since the beta was released.
