Yo
Errmm first off thx for writing a guide to help newbs/amatuers like myself and many others
I have a problem though. I follow your guide step for step. When i get to the part of entering a new MAC address it seems i dont have one. It says not present and there are no numbers or letters in the value box. I am behind a router and there are 3 computers running on my network.
Can you please shed some light on my situation
Thanks in advance.

The option may be listed under "Locally Administered Address" or "Hardware Address".
Also, you may be attempting to edit the wrong network card, many systems have multiple network cards - having enabled for example an integrated chipsets network port, alongside a standard ethernet adapter, alongside a wireless adapter. This would put 3 differen't network adapters into your device manager list.

I smell an acclaim employee/affiliate, or a simple attention whoring forum troll.

See step 6?
6) There should be a "Network Address" Option on the list that appears in the advanced tab. Click on "Network Address".
It is called “Network Address” or "Locally Administered Address"

Thanks for this information, I will add it to my guide. The option can also appear under "Hardware Address".

i have a program called macshift which is suppose to change my mac address. When i run the program it does the same thing as the steps u listed, however, when i check my mac with ipconfig /all, it still displays my old mac address. (im using nvidia chipset ethernet)
however i do know how to change my routers mac and when i do change my routers mac, the ip address of my internet also changes. My question to you Matt.dk is, will changing just the mac address of my router work with this? or will acclaim actually check past my router and look at my network cards mac address (which i cant get to change even though the program says everything was successful and even the network adress is filled out with the new mac)

There are many programs out there for changing your mac address. Only one I would recommend is MacMakeUp. Even so, its good to know how to do this yourself, because a mac changing tool may not always be available.
Most likely your problem is being caused because you have more then one network adapater present on your system, and you are not changing the mac address on the adapter that is being used for your internet connection. This is actually very common, especially if you have an ethernet adapater, and a wireless adapter. Simply change the mac on the right adapter, also be sure to disable/enable it as mentioned in the guide.
Its generally not a good idea to change the mac address of your router. If you are on a ISP with a static (always the same) IP address, then this means that the mac address of either your modem and or router have been assigned to this ip. Changing this mac could end up getting you in trouble, if you change to another designated address you would essentially cut off that other customer from service. That is, assuming your ISP has designated your IP address by your router... Which is very unlikely, as it tends to be designated by the MAC of your modem.
Some of you have dynamic ip addresses, especially those of you on standard a/dsl. Power down your modem for a few minutes, then bring it back up and plug it into your computer, odds are you'll be assigned a differen't ip, so long as your old ip was re-assigned to someone else on the network.
For now, Acclaim does not check IP's because of the chance that you could have referred someone in your family, or university, or someone who uses or shares with you the same network and therefore the same IP address. This is why acclaim instead checks the MAC address that the game client is being played on - specifically the source mac that communications, packets, are being transmitted from. Easy to do from the perspective of the client-side. And of course, they also cross-check account registration info. with the referrer.
