May I ask you one thing?
If you had been harassed and had demands made of you, and people then asked questions to which the answers were already obvious, how would you react? Would you be more accommodating toward people who have previously harassed you?
Do you think I should point out things that people already know, simply to avoid making them look foolish? I don't consider that particularly kind or reasonable. For example, asking whether something has been posted when I already know it has been posted and can clearly see that it has doesn't make much sense, especially if I have already downloaded it.
People clearly know how to download and install an add-on. Yet when the exact same process applies in another situation, suddenly some people claim they don't know how to do it. That inconsistency is difficult to overlook, particularly when there are also people who deliberately troll.
So what is the expectation here? Am I also supposed to be kind and accommodating toward people who have harassed or antagonized others, simply because being kind is supposedly the right thing to do?
What I find frustrating is that this expectation seems to apply selectively. I provide the files and resources, while others simply take advantage of them, yet I am still expected to be endlessly patient and accommodating toward people who harass, troll, or make threats.
If the advice is to be kind and understanding, then shouldn't that standard apply to everyone? Why expect something from me that others are not willing to practice themselves?
