I have no idea if this has been suggested before or if it's a good idea, but here it comes.
If you want to remove goldbotting completly, how about deleting all drops from monsters. Not uniques ofcourse. You would have to implement some other way of getting items ofcourse. Quests maybe?
The problem is: will people accept that or they will complain as always?Quote:

If you're going to make a comparison, compare MMO's. Give me one MMO where buying ingame items/ cosmetics doesn't give you a (huge) advantage (^:Quote:
(For example LoL is really successfull only thanks to its ranking system and the fact that you actually need some skills to stand out from the crowds.)
A server real Play2Win was made in the past. People forgot that donations should be done to support the server and not to get an advantage.Quote:

That can only be achieved by not linking anything related to end-gear with silks.Quote:
This is the average life cycle: Open--> Donators get OP--> Normal people begin to be at their level---> Donators are bored since they haven't played the game--->They leave--->Server is empty---> Closed. Repeat x100.
Silkroad needs a real and complete restyle in terms of end-content otherwise I can't see any future beside a worsening of the sitaution explained above.
This is just my personal opinion so I don't want everyone to agree with it, just sharing some thoughts.
You mean Venture? Venture was one of a kind. We had some good players and barely any noobs or kids. But sadly, it died. I'm not here to cry over the spoiled milk, but let's face it: No bot = no population.Quote:

That server, don't know if I'm allowed to write its name, had no bot, only cosmetic stuffs available on the item mall, real balance between euro and chinese... but, guess what, it failed cause people can't play anymore without bots and also they lost the attitude to work for their items.
I didn't play SRO in last year so I didn't know about your server but that's what almost the same thing which was made in the other one mentioned.Quote:

I can tell you what I did, I had everybody getting a crappy looking untradable avatar after reaching the level cap (still has the 4 magic options so it does the job, yet tempts people to get another) and a crappy looking pet.
I had the monthly supplies sold for non-purchasable currencies such as prem, extension gear and pet clock yet, they will still purchasable via silks. The same applies to immortal stones.
I also sold show-off items which had zero effects on the gameplay for decent prices of silks.
The end-gear was based on basically fucking the shit out of the game and even then, you might not even end up getting it which was pretty much the point.
Yeah it was Venture. Had such a great time there and thanks to it I met the people with who I'm still playing with and who made me come back and play again. I must be honest: If I had no friends to play with I would have never come back.Quote:

No, let's be honest here. It's very rare to find an owner who actually gives a crap nowadays like Akasch, Stath, myself and some others. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the community doesn't have issues because they do and I can pretty much write a page about how impatient they can be and how they have zero loyalty and how they chase after names and join servers blindly without reading their features then quit after realizing how much they suck and what's funnier is how they keep on being fooled over and over again by these names but that doesn't mean that most of the owners around here are some kind of saints either.Quote:
The problem is related to the community. We can't blame the owners nowadays if they only try to milk some money from their servers since the community has led them to this point.
The problem is when end-gears are reached, people get bored and find nothing more to do. Two things have to be ensured.Quote:
Silkroad as it is now has no chance of improvement that's why it should be reworked in some of its aspects.
