question: seed of tripeed, how to use?

It's a ranger seed (lvl 10+) you can use as a helper pet to kill nearby enemies, but everytime i try to use it, i get an error saying "you cannot use this item". any one ever used it and if yes, how?

ranger dont have pets, the seeds are for traps and you get the first one at lvl 13
