For a few days now, players of the MMOFPS "Heroes & Generals" can enjoy the "Patton" update, which added quite a few new ingame features to the shooter. Above all, one wanted to noticeably increase the amount of vehicles available in the game, which has led to a total of 24 new ones, including 9 tanks, 3 tank destroyers and 12 different surface vehicles and aircrafts, such as warplanes, all-terrain vehicles and even motorbikes. Moreover, they have added the possibility to take vehicles into one's possession and upgrade them at one's pleasure. The game mechanics of action and strategy have also experienced some changes here and there. Lastly, the developer announced the implementation of more content over the upcoming weeks, to further increase the fun. According to Jacob Andersen, Game Director of Reto-Moto, this update is the biggest one ever since the start of the beta:
"By introducing personal vehicle loadouts, where characters can own and upgrade the vehicles of their choice, and at the same time offer players to play as infantry, tanker, pilot and even as a General commanding the troops, I believe that we have something very unique compared to other online wargames."
Heroes & Generals has been a free-to-play real-time war simulation, which allows players to interact on many different levels, since 2011. Players of the browser-based 3D MMOFPS have the choice to play either an infantry soldier, armoured infantry, pilot or general and show their skills in a team. You can level up the classes you're playing and thus unlock a wide variety of different items, which allow you to give your team the edge over the enemy, given you're skilled with the class that you have chosen. The game is set in the middle of the second world war, the way we know it from the rewarded simulation "Axis & Allies". Whether one prefers fighting as one of the Allies or one of the Axis Powers is completely up to the players:
"H&G is, at its core, a shooter. Played via a plugin through your browser, most the people playing it will be taking part in an epic first-person shooter that will last for weeks or months, over dozens and dozens of cities. They are the Heroes. The Generals will be far fewer in number, sitting in tents high above the battle, issuing orders via an RTS map, with other humans as their units."
