Start Off

Now before we start off this post is not meant to create a false sense security or a sense of panic. This post it meant to stop all the Questions about "Is model editing Bannable".

[Types of Model Edits]
Every model edit is pretty much split up into 2 categories Models(.m2) and Skins(.blp) If a mod has both of them consider it to be a Model as the model if the greater of the evil.

[Skins]
Skins do not affect game play, so it shouldn't be a problem. However, the way they must be implemented to be used is on the edge. Originally, files could be just dropped into the data folder and it would work, but like always... there are people who have to do bad things to games.

Due to this exploitation, Blizzard made a few changes to help prevent simple model changes to bypass barriers. After patch 2.0 and beyond all MPQ files had to be named patch-_.mpq to work. And after Patch 2.3 An External Program had to be use to allow these patches.

Is skins bannable? No one knows for sure, but some have been daring enough to ask GMs directly. In fact a person has talked to a GM in game confirming that it isn't against the rules. As you can see from this screen shot he took, as long as no one else can see your alterations (as in it doesn't affects other players - such as an exploit) it's ok. However, you can still argue that they're just a GM, who knows if they really know what the company position is on this matter.

No one so far had been officially banned or mentioned that they were banned for using skins, but still some people are concerned of the thought. All I can say is, you at your own risk. But, skins have been out for a while.

[Models]

As for models... it's a bit more stricter in policy than skins. Due to Blizzard's short sightedness on fence and gate collisions built into only the model itself and exploiters... model switching has caused modding to take a few steps back. Why? because exploiters switch the gate models to a box or some other small object.

Using model switches or skins to give yourself an edge or to exploit/bypass things is strictly prohibited! That means no skins that let you see your enemies from great distances, stealth, invisibility, etc (like having them all bright pink or something) herbs brightly colored for easy spotting, changing the size of nodes to be able to mine from greater distances, modifying walls or fence models to bypass them, etc. If it gives you an advantage in anyway it's against the ToS.

If it's just a visual change (just for looks), as much as it may irritate Blizzard they aren't gonna pay much attention to it Because it does not exploit the game or other players.

[Wrap Up]
Blizzard's main focus is to stop hackers and exploiters. If you don't intend on using skins and models to exploit or hack you shouldn't have to worry about getting banned. That being said there are edits that will get you banned.

So ive been looking around on google for some quick 3.3.0 Race change and i just gave up and made the MPQ files myself.
ive not been able, nor can be assed to make ALL the characters in advance.
So if you want me to make you a race to race change REQUEST IT if you cant find it in this thread.

Installation part

1 :Find the character class and gender your currently playing

2 : Download the files listed below

3 : Choose the class you want to change to. Female/male and open the file. in there you will see a MPQ file named Patch-4.MPQ or Patch-5.MPQ

4 : Open C:\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft\Data and simply copy the file in there (you will see other Patch-x.MPQ files in there)

NEVER replace an existing original MPQ file. just rename it Patch-5 or something thats not taken.

5 : Open wow normally and see your character changed to the race you want it to be and enjoy.

6 : Removal : If you want to remove your current race change simply delete the file from your data directory

Reminder : These Race changes arent complete. you will still have an ugly face due to your currrent characters face settings.

But theres a Helm fix (on most) so just show helm if you feel this is annoying.

Having some problems with getting every race to race change working atm, but im trying to figure out the issues.

Some MIGHT work, but you might also get an Error when exiting the game, but works propperly ingame

Hey guys, I thought I'd just give you my revision of the Tauren Druid feral forms.
I've done them myselves by using Photoshop and copying certain parts from different textures
in the game, coupled with some original artwork needed for certain parts aswell as touch-ups.
They're much... much better than the original ones, so I do recommend you take a peek
at this if you now happen to have a Druid and gotten tired of looking at
the same brown/gray furry ass.

INSTALLATION You must read these steps if you aren't familiar with  modelchanging. I expect everyone to read this before contacting me for  help.
 




 
 1: Make sure your  game is shut down before going further.
 
 2: You need a fresh version of WinRAR which can be found  here: [URL="http://www.rarlab.com/"]WinRAR archiver, a  powerful tool to process RAR and ZIP files[/URL] (It's the official site  and contains no keylogger/malware)
 
 3: Extract from the RAR-archive the files you  want (not the whole folder), and  insert it into your 'C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Data' folder. 
You can find for example 'common.MPQ', 'expansion.MPQ' in the folder  we're gonna use. 
(If you can't find this folder, type in *.*MPQ (star, dot, star MPQ) with  Windows own search-function. It will locate all files that has the  fileending 
.MPQ, then just right-click on one of those files and  click "Navigate to folder" or "Open folder", whatever)
So for example you want the standard pack but the worgen aswell, you  would pick "CAT&BEAR&MOONKIN&NESWIFTpatch-6.MPQ" and  "WORGENpatch-8.MPQ", 
this is because the files in the pack can complement each other and be  matched as you please (with the exception if it has the same  patch-number).
  
 4: Remove  the 'CAT&BEAR&MOONKIN&NESWIFT',  'WORGEN', 'TAURENFURBOLG', 'STAG' or 'SPELLSOUND'  etc. prefixes but keep the numbers* after. 
If you don't the patches will not work. So for example 'WORGENpatch-8.MPQ'  becomes 'patch-8.MPQ'.
  
 5: Just to be  safe, rename any patch-#.mpqto patch-#.MPQ.  , and if there's any Patch-#.MPQ replace it with  patch-#.MPQ.    Someone reported it started to work after they renamed that part of the  file to lower-case all the way.
The capital letters can for some make the difference between having it  working, or mysteriously crash your game. Proven to work, so try  and look for this. I sometime forget to adjust the file-endings.
 *(Note:  working patch numbers vary from 1-9 and a-z. Also "#" means number)

Uninstallation:

from your 'World of Warcraft\Data' folder to have everything back to normal.

DO NOT REMOVE THE ORIGINAL GAME FILES
COMMON.MPQ, EXPANSION.MPQ, PATCH.MPQ, PATCH-2.MPQ AND SOMETIMES PATCH-3.MPQ

This pack is not modifying your World of Warcraft, but only overriding the 'lower'
patches so to say, so there's no harm in installing this pack as you can always remove it
with just a simple Shift+Delete and its out of your life .

klar, deine modelchanges werden immer gebraucht

du hattest doch mal nen title swap thread, oder?
Bräuchte Nachtherr-> Gladiator oder Jenkins -> Gladiator, ja habe englischen client ^^
außerdem bräucht ich noch ne MPQ für ScM -> GnM oder Female, wär super nett, thanks gibts schon im vorraus

Also, ich spiele einen Orc Warlock und hätte gerne eine komplette Überarbeitung, insbesondere der Dämonen. Ich hab mir mal einige rausgesucht, falls du die Lust hast was zu ändern, nimm einfach was passt. Ich habe keine Ahnung, ob einige der Models einfach riesig, einfarbig usw. sind.
