PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds now holds top spot for most played non-valve game
According to the popular website SteamSpy which compares and evaluates data within Steam including popularity, peak players, and more, the newly released PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has now surpassed each of it's competition, becoming the first non-valve game to hold the top 3 spot passing games such as Grand Theft Auto 5, Fallout 4, and Warframe. Revealing the news himself via Twitter yesterday, Brendan Greene, or also known as PlayerUnknown, stated that "We now hold the record for the highest peak player count of any non-Valve game! GG WP everyone <3".

Since PlayerUnknown's Battleground first hit the steam store back in March in early access, the game quickly took the world by storm as it was picked up by popular YouTubers and Twitch streamers, showcasing the game to millions of their fans and gamer's alike. SteamSpy also boasts that the average median game time lasts an average of 11 minutes, with over 6,000,000 people owning a copy of the game. And whilst the game is still in early access, Brendan boasts that he's still looking to integrate mod support, more extensive character customization, and new maps. Whilst PlayerUnknown's Battleground still falls short of the likes of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2, it still achieves on average, 400,000 gamer's playing every 48 hours. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds also shows no sign of decreasing in popularity, as recently, the game had only just surpassed 5,000,000 sales, then shortly afterwards, propelled to a further 1,000,000 sales totaling 6,000,000 sales.

While there is no further news on the exact release date of the full version of the game, Bluehole are hoping to have it completed and finalized before the end of this year.
