Call of Duty has almost always been a 3-episode series: solo campaign, co-op campaign and the multiplayer mode. The latter has priority for a majority of gamers, and accordingly there has always been the opportunity to try the multiplayer mode at Gamescom. However, not this year. Instead, we were surprised with this reveal, which thematically could not be more distant from the game. Most likely, no one even planned on a zombie mode in the 1980s look.
In the new co-op mode up to four players compete against a horde of zombies. The freshly introduced map "Spaceland" is an amusement park provided with various attractions from the 80s. Loyal to the stereotypes of our history, there are high-visibility colors, crazy outfits and a soundtrack deejayed by David Hasselhoff. The four playable heroes could not be more clichéd: rapper Andre in a bright red tracksuit, blondie Sally, highschool athlete A.J with his fancy hairstyle, and lastly nerd Poindexter wearing protective clothes along with glasses and a helmet.
