As you were able to see at last Christmas, gaming consoles are extremely popular at this time. Therefore, Sony warns of supply bottlenecks at Christmas again. Empty shelves are probably not to be expected, but the delivery date could take longer than planned. It will be hard to supply the demand, almost 1 million consoles are being produced monthly anyhow. Sony plans to speed up production of PlayStation 4 temporarily in order to supply the demand.
In conversation with reuters.com, CEO Andrew House pointed out that supply bottlenecks are possible at Christmas:
»If I look at Europe I think it is potentially, for the second year running, going to be quite inventory challenged. I'm not going to say you won't be able to find a PlayStation 4. I think it's going to be kind of hand to mouth in terms of that market.«
