New King of Nintendo: Switch Overtakes the DS with 155 Million Units
The PlayStation 2 is the only rival left standing.
It finally happened. Even though the Switch 2 has been on the market for six months now, the original hybrid console refuses to slow down.
According to Nintendo's latest financial report (data as of December 31, 2025), the Nintendo Switch has officially broken the long-standing record held by the Nintendo DS.
- Nintendo Switch: 155.47 Million Units
- Nintendo DS: 154.02 Million Units
The Switch is now Nintendo's most successful hardware in history. The only competitor left to beat is the PlayStation 2, which sits somewhere over 160 million units. Given the momentum, it might actually happen.
