What a time to be alive. After 4 years of the Playstation 5 beeing available for purchase, Sony has now confirmed a new Playstation 5, that comes with a re-design but basically the same stats as the original PS5 before.
Sony says the new Playstation 5 will be about 30% smaller then the original Playstation 5, also the weight has been decreased by 18% (for the digital model) and 24% (for the disc version). It will be sold as a Digital Version, how ever. You now have the opportunity to buy a seperate Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive that will be sold as a stand-alone item, this means you can basically turn your Digital Version into a Disc version for an additional fee. As the horizontal stand will still be included with the purchase, a vertikal stand will be sold seperately for an additional fee.

The redesigned Playstation 5 will be available for pre-order this november in the United States and will Roll-out within months for the rest of the world. Sony says as soon as the current Model versions have been sold out, this will be the only Version available for the global market, so we should probably get used to it.

Well, it's fair to say that Sony had some toughts when developing the redesigned Playstation 5. A nice to have is also the possibility to now add an external disc drive, when ever you feel like upgrading your digital Playstation 5 to a Disc Version of the playstation 5. But as the Disc Drive will cost additionally 80 USD, 99 EUR (and so on) it comes out to be the same price as a disc version in some of the countries if not a little bit more expensive when it comes to the US Version. Beside the fact that the redesigned Playstation 5 is now a little smaller in size and weights less then the original model, there nothing more positive to say as the Hardware will be the same, just fiz sized to the new housing.
We have a few pro's on the list, that makes it interessting for the most people out there, especially for people wich may be only able to afford a digital version at the beginning but would love to upgrade sooner or later. The only thing that might be considerable is the fact that the prices are more expensive as if someone would buy a disc version. After all, there is not much bad things to say. The only question wich is unanswered for me is: Will the disc drive be replaceable on the disc version? Like, if it someday just randomly stops working, does the replacement work for disc version buyers as well? What are your toughts!
