The elemental essence stuff isn't that bad, but setting them as a big rock between player and direct progression is one, though.
I am using a smiliar "misc item to essential item" upgrade path about unlocking a custom mastery, which has the possibility unlocking skillrows or special skills like passives and buffs. Using an already implemented system: "Mastery NPCs", pre-european update.

There are 4 different types and only for chinese: bicheon, heuksal, pacheon, force. Seems to be an over-brainstormed format from Joymax for unlocking/learning skill. An overall bad copy from the game Lineage2. You may get use of those NPCs for a custom idea (includes gameserver and client manipulation).

Surely, you saw lots of servers which were failed last months and everyone knows the reason of the failure so i hope you aren't going to fail like the owners of those servers.

I'm too sad because i don't have any idea right now ,but i'm happy because fayox is coming soon ^^ .

Advice: Take "Balance between EU-CH" into consideration because many players start hating ch only.

Well, it could work if you redefine the idea of progressing. It doesn't have to be around your level / gear degree. I am trying to consider endgame progressing.
