Questions about rogue

Hello people, I am currently lvl 46 only dagger skills rogue on Phoenix, I've been grinding and getting plevelled hard but I consider myself an extreme newbie. I do not really have any idea what I'm doing and I stopped adding masteries as I'm at 45 now and someone I was talking to online told me to leave a 9 level gap. Now I've read on guides and researched quite abit but I still don't quite understand why I have to do this. Since this is my first char, I don't want to make decisions that I may regret later, and in order to do so, I need to know more about the rogue, but even after reading many guides, I still don't understand what I want.

First off, doesn't this reduce my damage, spells I'm able to learn, basically reduce my potential overall? I know that it increases my sp earned however, but won't I be let's say level 80 but dealing damage of a level 70?

I've been in a huge dilemma deciding what to take as my subclass, this is my first char, and I want this char to be strong and fun. Initially I started out with going for rogue/warlock as it is said to be a good pvp opponent. Everyone else, including my guild is telling me to go either bard or cleric. I do know that with cleric, it is much harder for me to die, and with bard, I don't have to take 10 years to walk to mobs. They say that warlock is a waste because it takes up to much MP. Which I did consider as well.

Regarding my skills, I only have dagger skills now, should I take on a subclass and not max out the essential bow skills? or should i max out the essential bow skills, as well as my subclass skills? Should I just stay pure Rogue?

Thanks for reading this guys, and I would really appreciate help and comments. ^^

Well I wouldn't add gap 9 at that level...
About the character:
Rogue/cleric = pvp, guild war, fortress war, uniques, grind (hunting monsters) without dieing
Rogue/bard = grind
I recommend a Rogue/Cleric, you can do many things with it, you will always have a strong character and you won't regreat it!

thank you so much for your valuable feedback guys. Truly appreciated ^^. About the gap part? why wouldnt you gap at such level? Should it have been done earlier? As this is my first character I'm really noob to the game still so.. bear with me >.<. I accidentally added 4 masteries to my warlock, but I'm thinking of going cleric now <3

About the subclass, when should I add the masteries and skills? Since I am kinda low on Sp now should I try to learn all my rogue skills while being on a 9 level gap, or should I try to balance it out by adding to my subclass, yet making sure that I still have most of my Sp in the rogue first?

For example, I'm level 47 now with masteries at lvl 45, I have 4 masteries in warlock, and if I want to remove the masteries from warlock? Do I have to do a quest or something?

Also, let's say if I want to continue with warlock as a subclass, do I try to add as much masteries and skills as I can, or do I wait until I feel comfortable with my rogue skills first?

Thank you for being patient with me <3

If you have a good plvler at a good lvl mob i would 3-4 gap it for a good amount of lvls till you think you are at a good number of sp 800k+ i guess depends on what sub you want and if you are going xbox+dagger. I would recommended since this is your first chr to find a guide that best fits your interest. That would tell your what skills and how much sp you need. If you have a question you can ask me at my msn.

organico, ur quite wrong. i had a lvl 73 rouge/bard FF, and i was easily able to do gw, ctf, and fw. bards are quite nice too, since most of the people havent tried it yet.

ah.... its hard to choose , actually till 90-100 you can use bard 100% you dont need cleric mastery cuz you hit all with 1 hit so for me xbow/cleric is bullshit, idk if you up just xbow or (and) rogue but i offer you to grind with xbow/bard till 90-100lv. Then at the end make 9 gap and you will get enough sp for full farm (that mean all usefull skills are maxed if you didnt know what mean ff) and just dlv bard and up cleric.

There are many diferent ways to play with you character, no mather what build it is. I wasn't saying you wouldn't be able to do GW, CTF, FW, PVP. I was just saying that with Cleric is a lot better(stronger). Cleric has recovery division > holy world > healing cycle > bless spell > buffs > res > healing skills. So far, it's the best and strongest Rogue combination. And don't tell me that Bard is better than Cleric because, it's not!

If yall can help me a bit it would be greatly appreciated... Okay... So i know if you are going to do a dagger build like 30/8/13 that you would naturally wanna go duel daggers. But what about a duel sword Rogue? I seem to see more high levels toteing around duel swords rather than duel daggers. What build would you want for duel swords? I THINK its a combat build, something like 30/21/0. I guess my base question is... I play on a PvE server, and up to this point ive never come accross...
