I know all about Fortnite. I'm not a new player to this game. Let me elaborate: Fortnite does
not use eacs hwid mechanism at all. It loads but it's
not used. I don't mislead people, that much I can assure you. "EAC in general" means "usually" and it does not cover "edge cases" like PUBG and Fortnite which use custom mechanisms. We are in the rust section after all.
Fortnite uses their own hwid mechanism which is internal and consists of 71 entries (one of them being 1 standard disk ioctl) + a major amount of traces. If you had reversed and dumped eac and Fortnites networking packets you'd see what I'm talking about.
Back to the case: if a game
USES eac hwid mechanism and you
DON'T handle disk, you're fucked, and that includes
ALL games that
USE eacs hwid mechanism. Yet again there are different versions of eac in different games, some has less identifiers than others which is either a "version thing" or a switch in their game-specific-eac-panel. Nevertheless they all have one thing in common and that is a
VERY COMPREHENSIVE way of fetching and handling the disk identifiers utilizing a large variety of comparisons and ioctls to get this data in multiple ways.
As for your comment about Apex, this is wrong. Apex is just like every other eac game. They hwid ban your ass within 1-5 bans and they're ALL disk bans. You cannot compare Apex and Fortnite. However, Rust and Apex hwid is 1:1. EAC always initiates a grace period where they give the person a fighting chance to quit cheating, this applies to all their games(that I've come across so far).
I understand this topic can be quite complex, especially if you’re more familiar with scripting perm bundled spoofers and reselling than actual coding and deep reverse engineering of windows internals and anticheats. I do however hope my explanation helps clarify things. Sharing accurate information is important to me, as I’ve seen a lot of misunderstandings in this area. If you have any more questions, fire at will. I’m here to help, but I'm never misleading.
