It is allowed but extremely poor forum etiquette. meaningless bumps containing no meaningful information posted for nothing more than floating your thread to the top of the thread pile is both annoying and spammy since it appears that new information is posted.
While there is no official rules against it, I tend to form very low opinions on those that engage on this annoying practice.
