if it is a large software company, i would guess it is the corporate firewall that is blocking those. corporate firewalls are whitelist-access only and everything else is blocked. the only thing that can squirrel past those is a trojan brought in by its employees who like to frequent **** sites opening a door. most large software companies are extremely strict on maintaining constant malware scans and workstation firewalls to stop that kind of thing. as well there is the corporate firewall traffic monitoring.
but a game server isn't gonna have any of that stuff because they want players to connect to them. that's why crackers love game servers. easy targets.
