CPU usage 80% when i am looking at SRO
What i mean is when i alt tab to SRO , i get 80% cpu usage, if i alt tab out to other window (no longer looking at sro) i get 5% cpu usage...
I got a Core2Duo 2.66ghz, should be able to run this shit fine (only 1 client) |
Its coded poorly , thats why , ud be amazed how many stuff take up 100% cuz of the unlimited animation/fps caps , red alert 2 takes up 100% too lol
|
SRO is made with Direct X and is very CPU intensive.
When you move to another window, it is not drawn anymore so that's why you see a drop in CPU usage. |
anyway i can fix it? 1 day i accidentally afk with it looking at SRO, when i come back after 8 hrs, the PC hang
|
The only thing you could do is upgrade your CPU.
|
:( i am not upgrading just for SRO, my friend running lousier Core2Duo than me and yet his SRO only take 10% when look at it
|
I know of someone that runs 6 3.2ghz cores, and the CPU is at like 30,40% when a client is in focus. lol.
|
sadded this is shit
|
WTH , i Run 10 clients and my cpu usage never goes over 12~15% , i have Core i7 720QM 1.6 Ghz only ^^ , so you gotta have some problem going on with your computer

also , i think you should be able to get 50% usage if u set cpu affinity for sro window and ur pc hung when u left it 8 hours becuz of overheat ... u may have a bad overclock or a closed pc case |
well kgy, i can run 5 client and also only at most 25%. ( if it is not in focus)
Toma, you mean going to task manager and setting it 1core? tried that, when it is in focus, it is still eating shit up. This game is bad |
How can you know how much it is taking when its in focus? i mean you switch to check CPU meter its not on focus anymore

@auggie the affinity thing should let one core work on one window , ill try in a few hours with my x4 3.2ghz |

EDIT: here's a pic Spoiler:
|
My 3 years old laptop can run this better than my PC.....
this is so fuck up |
2x 2.33GHz
2% cpu usage unfocused, 50% focused lol |
Quote:
and for kqy's pic , it looks like sro doesnt use ht , so its 25% for u too |

they should have a console... to set stuff
I am monitoring my cpu temp not in focus, 38 Degrees celsius in focus up to 66 degrees celsis (WTF!!!) @kgy, you are using quad? EDIT: i am using E6750 Core2Duo 2.66ghz. No HT technology. shouldn't it support SRO |
Is it only SRO that consumes your CPU or is there other processes running?
- Have you tried increasing / decreasing the priority of the process? |
i downclocked to 0.8ghz with 4core and total usage still 25% !!
u cant make this shit up @auggie ur probly running with closed pc case and stock cpu cooler ... thats what u should expect |
I tested with only SRO running, and some other windows process
still it uses 80- 90% cpu increasing decreasing priority does nothing @toma I am running with cpu case open with coolermaster heat sink, averaging 38 -40 degrees when normal usage, 50-55 when playing black ops EDIT: I think this game is not optimizing the GPU alot and transferring most of the load to the CPU. |
Most of this free games are usually coded poorly and contains lot's of bugs!
- However check if there is a option inside / outside the game to "Allow Game Refresh" then un-tick that. |
That is for sroking i suppose? i am not using that
|
well it happened to me b4 but it was with all not only sro if i do open anything it just consume alot of cpu so i found that the error was in my power supply after changing it to a better one all went smooth
|
hazdy i think your problem has nothing to do with ours.
U see i have a 500W PSU. And only SRO consume lots of cpu. |
weeee, i just realise by using SROking, i can tick save cpu :D

reduces ( or afaik forces silkroad to not use so much cpu ) i am only using 15-20% in focus now without lag, save too much will cause lag
|
I see this too. It started after the last major update. 90 - 100% cpu usage. the game ran fine before the update. Now it even uses so much i have to reboot the computer.
|
C2D is an older version of computer processors, thats why, is your computer 64bit or 32 ? because 64s use more cpu for graphics and animations etc. It also depends on your ram if you have 4gb ram (avg.) or more and still have these issues i think youll need to format your pc or get it cleaned somehow, the cleaners youll find online or the one thats built in arent that effective, if i were you id buy a computer with an i7 processor or i5 but with a high ram memory.
