Unlimited zoom and npc ids

Hi all

Well, i'm new to this kind of hacking (or let's say manipulating) games stuff. And now i'm pretty curious what zoomhacks and showing npc ids are usefull for?
Does it increase the npcs range, so that i can buy things (for example) from any npc in the whole map? If it doesn't work like that, are those "hacks" simply some
funstuff?

Zoomhack lets you move yor camera toward the sky - yhese makes gameplay more comfortable. Showing NPC ids and such things used mostly for research =)
