I am afraid we'll see gwa2-breaking updates more regularly now. Because of this I am currently working to change the updater I posted earlier to automagically update any gwa2 with new headers.

The gwa2 here on github is quite nice actually, but there are tons of variants out there and updating each and everyone of those is rather tedious.

Right now I prepared the script to put the header from an array into the correct sendpacket call in gwa2. It will not just increment each header, but put the correct header at each function call. Ill spare you the details for now. But this would mean you'll have to download the new headers and rerun the updater each time there is an update.

I could change the updater to not put the actual header in each sendpacket but a variable's name for each header. Like they are stored inside the gwa2 from github now. This would mean you'd have to update gwa2 once for each bot you run, download the new headers every update, and the bots work instantly.

This would exclude any exotic custom functions that I do not know about right now. Those could be easily added later on, if reported by others. I would make the updater write a file that would give all info needed to get those custom functions into the updater.

What do you guys think is the better approach?
I'd say updating each gwa2 once to use variables and then just get the header updates, preferebly as a separate file.

I think "updating each gwa2 once to use variables" is better choice then combine all gwa2 file.

I am not sure, if I misunderstand you, or you didnt understand me. I do want a separate file for headers. I admit my post is rather technical ^^

You will still have to get the new headers into variables somehow. A seperate file is way more easy to update (just replace it) then editing all of your bots gwa2 after each update.

I basically want to outsource the gamebreaking part (headers) into a file that is easily updated/exchanged after updates to the game, and that can be easily included in any gwa2 by using a script once.

1. use updater on each file of each bot once
2. download header variable file
3. copy header variable file into each bots folder
4. run bots

Game Update? Do 2-4 again. Would take at most 1 minute for all of your bots.

My fault, i made mistake in my post) I agree with you, it's more easy and flexible to update and manage army of bot XD

In the latest version of the gwa2 the headers are now in their own region which should make it easy to update.

Copying a header file should be as much time as copying the main file. Even with the header file you would need new main files for all bots. Instead I think all those custom functions should go in a separate file and the gwa2 can be replaced again.

hey i have a problem, i can't run more than 2 bots anymore with the new gwa2.
with the 3/23 version everything worked fine, but now,with the new gwa2, the third and fourth gwclient just closes after like 10 mins, without any error message and i can't figure out why.
does someone know about this problem and is there a fix?

Hello, I'm not a programmer but I'm interested and I have a question
Is it possible to create a function that groups the headers, I'll explain:
We create a function that goes from 0xAA, 0xAB ... 0x11, 0x12 ... 0xA1, 0x1A ... and with that, ask to find it and use the right headers
I'm not sure that's possible, but as I said, I do not know much programming, so if I can swing ideas for someone.

True. It is easy to update that one gwa2. I really like that you adopted my initial idea, but I want to take it further

I took the stuff of you guys and implemented it into a GWA2 File

@z your GWA2 had some functions missing like, display / clear titles or destroying weapons

i generated a new repo if some1 is interested and now i'll be working through the code / fix stuff there

i took the approach from rheekz with the seperated header file, but i edited the Headers to a better naming convention and also made them as "constants" instead of normal variables
Also grouped them into certain "actions" so you can easily get through the list, when updating them



the current version has this bugfixes:

bugfix: wrong header at opening chest (both of your scripts had this wrong)
bugfix: implemented an better approach in logging the character names (dynamic arrays, by autoit)
